Questions about offroading in my truck?

You'll def know when the g80 engages. Probably one of the loudest normal bangs in the truck.

Yeah, Turn off the stabilitrak and traction control, let them rip. it should lock without issues

Im going to check the fluid in the rear ends, and probably just change it over to Royal Purple while Im at it. I'll at least feel better looking it over since it makes some weird noises in 4wd compared to my last truck. I was looking at some lockers from Eaton for the front, but their pretty pricey...

Front lockers are pretty hard on an IFS front end, a few people have them though. Honestly, a good rear locker should get you just about anywhere you drive under normal circumstances, perhaps knobbier tires would be a more affordable way to increase traction than a front locker?

You have a good point there. I hardly ever offroad so I'm not to worried about it yet. Sometime after it's paid off though would be a good time to maybe do a front locker or something to help it out traction wise. Maybe even a 4" suspension lift. I'm just mainly worried about making sure everything is working correctly. I wish I knew if my last truck would have done the same thing in the same situation because I wouldn't even be wondering about it. Do these trucks have a limited slip in the front rear end since a locker is hard on the IFS?

I wanted a locker for the front of my truck, but the price is what scared me away. If you're not too hard on it and you beef up your front end some, it'd be a really cool add on that barely anyone has.

 

I don't know whether the front is open or LS, hopefully someone who does will chime in.

If it's just an open diff now Id be just as happy with a limited slip if the price is right.

Well that would explain alot of things if it is. I wonder if they've always been open?
