Understair Storage

Does anyone have storage built under their stairs? My wife has challenged me with this task. Here is what I am working with

What is on the other wall by the kitchen? Also is there another set of stairs under it for a basement?

No basement. If you go down the hall and make a right there is a pantry closet

So there is space between the closet and the stairs she want to use.

 

IMO I would put some wood paneling or what ever you call it under the molding and then install some double swing out doors so you can store stuff and they would blend in with the other wood and not stick out.

I am thinking a 30" interior door. I would like it so we can walk in and build shelves on the inside under the stairs

Lol. I was gonna suggest a small interior door. Looks like you are on the right path!

Yea, frame one small wall , drywall yuck, put on door then shelving. Sounds so easy
