When to replace tires?size.

I posted an earlier question about changing tire sizes. After further research it looks like i will stay with the same size tires on my 2009 GMC Sierra SLT 4x4 2500HD. My front tires have 9/32 tread and rear tires have 6/32 tread. The wear bars on the rear tires are visible. The tires have about 34,000 miles on them. I haul a 2200# slide in camper plan to take a trip of about 3000 miles.

Would you suggest changing tires before this trip? Would it be best to move the front tires to the rear so I have more tread depth on the rear?

Thanks

Sorry about the mistake in the topic title. I posted then noticed I had left "size" in the title, it should have been removed.

Id rotate them and adjust tire pressures accordingly. Don't replace them just yet.

Have you rotated them in the past?

Newdude,

Thanks for the reply. I have rotated the tires twice since the tires were new.

Sounds like you've got plenty of tread left to me....when in doubt call the manufacturer and find out what the specs are for your specific tires, I wouldn't think you should see a wear bar with that much tread left. You probably should have rotated those tires more than twice by now....

+2, go ahead and rotate them. I rotate every other oil change. Sounds like you should be able to run those tires for at least 10k more miles.
