Should I Trade In?

Recommended Posts

I currently own a 2012 Ecoboost Lariat 4x4 Supercrew. I just recently got a loan to buy the truck 5 months ago. I currently owe 41,800 on the truck , which I figure I'll get around 38,000 on trade in. This puts me around 4000 dollars I'd have to hide.

I guess I should explain why would I even be thinking about doing this? Well the seats in the F150 Really hurt my Sactica Nerve almost to the point of not wanting to ever drive it. I own a 2007 Tahoe and a 2002 Silverado which I'll drive instead of my 50,000 dollar truck.

So I was like if i'm going to trade I'd have to hide - equity , I found a 2011 Silverado Loaded for 32,800 at jud kuhn chevrolet. This would be the perfect truck to hide 4000 dollars on because they have it marked down to auction prices. The problem with this truck is that it isnt what I have lol ; and it also has swirl marks from the previous owner in the paint already.

I'm on the fence at this point , I really enjoy my F150 The Power the Speed the Look the towing apps. I just cant stand the seat What should I do?

Sell the Ford and drive the old Silverado. The word "hide" and "dollars" should never be in the same sentence...

I'd like to have a newer truck , that was the reason I bought the f150 5months ago. I used those terms because those are the terms that need to be used in this case.

i would do what music said. or if you need a new vehicle, sell the 2 older trucks and buy a truck with what you get for them. sell the ford on your own, so you dont owe 4 large.

A good upholstery shop may be able to add some foam to the seat that would make you more comfortable. It has to be done in such a way as to not compromise air bag deployment. Also, a good seamstress may be able to make you a memory foam pad that you could sit on as to not bother your nerve. You could buy some fabric that could come close to your seat.

Hope these suggestions help you.

Ditch the ford and drive the old truck. Or switch the seats.

Fords leather seats make my back hurt in some trucks, and I'm 18 for Pete's sake.

i dont have a bad back or anything like that but i rode in an 05 F150 with leather seats and after about an hour my back hurt and i couldnt get comfy

I agree with some of the others. If you really like your ford and the seat is the only problem, get new seats or have the oem ones modded at a shop. Doesn't make sense to sell it, if you in fact really like it, just becuase of the seat.

Having a bad back myself I can offer some suggestions that I use. Try changing angle of seat back, as well as initial seat position (fore-aft), and make small adjustments over some time. I have found that most any seat can be made bearable, provided they can be adjusted more than just fore-aft. Chances are you have tried this, but, you may find that what seems like it won't work, actually does work, you just have to try it that way. For example, I am just over 6 feet tall, but, to be comfortable, I have the seat in my truck set closer to the steering wheel than my buddy's truck (he is 5'7"), with the back tilted back a bit more than straight up, and lumbar support on full (that part does not do much, the two fusions made my lumbar non-adjustable). If the seat cushion itself is causing the pain, get it redone with firmer foam. Do not get softer, it actually works against you in regards to back pain.

Check out other seats. If you have leather, how do the cloth one feel.

Same as looking at King Ranch seats instead of the Lariat's, are they different.

Also look at the Expedition/Navigator seats.

Beaded seat cover, there's a reason taxi drivers have used them for decades.

Used, auction priced, near end of 36K warranty and stacking debt from an "upside-down" vehicle; if trouble is your first, middle and last name, go for it

+1

Our local Toyota dealer had name and prices of an upholstery shop who would modify their seats. They must have been asked enough.

Maybe your Ford dealer knows of the same.

You owe how much on a truck???? You want to trade it in to hide negitive eq? Get the seat fixed by your local upholstery shop & pay that financial disaster off before you sink with it.

I understand this , a vehicle is a toy that has a purpose. I dont buy a 50,000 dollar toy without knowing i'm losing money. The fact is I was asking for advice on what to do about the seat. The only reason I'm even considering a GM truck on the gmt900 platform is because of the seat. A Disaster? hardly only if you're broke and made nothing of your life.
