Swapping 350tbi into 96' 6.5 diesel k2500

I have a 1996 gmc sierra 2500 with a blown 6.5TD and a 1992 gmc sierra 1500 with a 350tbi and 700r4 i beleive both trucks are 4x4 and automatics. I unterstand that when changing a diesel over to gas there is work involved like hanging fuel lines, rad, wiring harnesses, gauge cluster, ecm computer and gas tank etc but i have lots of time on my hands. My question is:

 

Can i pull the 350 TBI amd 700r4 transmission/transfer case out of my 92'1500 and slide the whole drivetrain into the 1996 2500 sierra diesel?

 

I know the 350tbi is wayy more sluggish and way worse on mpg then the diesel. I

Was going to put a plow on the 2500 and want my old reliable bullet proof 350 inch there nice and simple concept.

Yes,the 350 and the 700r4 will fit right in,Actually the tbi350's get damn good mpg i got about 17+ with 3:42 rear gears.With a mild cam and some other stuff you can really wake those tbi's up.

Thank you for the reply, even if the 96 6.5 diesel body is a bit newer then the 92' 5.7 sierra will there be

be problems with the shifter linkage because its just a lot more dofferent

Then the one on the 1992 body?

 

And would there be a difference in the drive shaft because the 6.5 diesels trans is a

4L80e and the 350tbi is a 700r4? 92' sierras drive shaft matching up to

the 8 lug rear end of the 96' 2500 diesel? Thanks

 

And 17mpg with a tbi is really good, they are a rck solid engine for sure
