So I have a question about the difference in keyless entry systems between chevy/GMC. So my friend has a 2008 Chevy crew cab LT and he can lock his from the 9th floor of our dorms and across 2 parking lots approximately 500 yards. Now I have a 2011 W/T GMC and I cant even lock mine from the same window 60 yards away. I looked at the buttons and my GMC has a star symbol with a triangle and his just has a star. So what are the differences in the two? The chevy does have a satellite radio antennae that might make a difference.

No difference. I've seen tremendous variation in the range of the remotes from vehicle to vehicle. GMC and Chevy have no differences like that.

extended range... thats the difference, I think you need code AP8 to have it. That also determines if you can add factory remote start.
