Well it has been a while. I had a 2004 gmc sierra slt 2500 dmax and sold it because of a motorcycle accident I had 3+ yrs ago and needed the money for hospital bills. I ended up getting a 2008 toyota tacoma 4x4 and liked it but missed the comfort of the full size so I traded it in for a 2008 gmc sierra slt 1500z 71.

Well some lady looking at a rainbow rear ended me at a stop light and did 5k of damage to the back so after the repair...I sold it.

I ended up getting a 2012 passat tdi with awesome mpg 40 avg but 46.6 on the hwy.

Now I am missing my dmax...... Looked at a used 2007 dmax z71 the other day ...it has 135k miles. Driver seat needs to be replaced on the bottom and has some aftermarket dvd that does not seem to hang right ....it has some play if you push on it....seems to sag.

The outside is in great shape other than a ding or two on the rear bumper. Needs tires......they are asking 27500. I told them clean it up and lets see how she looks....motor runs fine..but looked pretty dusty.

bed has a super liner that looks kind of yellowed white with a frame from a 5th wheel...Which I would remove.

This truck is the new body style .....soon to be the old.

Thoughts?

I also saw on craigslist a 08...but it has had a tuner and has had two doors replaced because his brother inlaw backed it into a tree...said no major damage and works as new.

Thoughts ...they are asking 30k.

Thanks to all...and wish me luck as I try to sell my passat.

Yeah I posted it here on craigslist in columbia sc. for just 500 more than my payoff. It has 12500 miles on it...white with blk leather seats and a sunroof. Hope to sell it soon....Hope to be DMAX bound. Anyone have any ideas on the two trucks I mentioned?

idk where you are located but 27k for a dmax with 135k seems to pricey for me.. that truck should be around 18-20k. i would be patient and look for a better deal and a truck with lower miles. also find a truck that hasnt been in an accident. vehicles are never the same after an accident and there is no reason to buy one that was in an accident when there are plenty of trucks that have not been in one.

I agree, that sounds pretty rough for the price. May have to get them to fix it all, or drop the price a ways.

I know 3 people off the top of my head who would buy it if it was in KS.

I think they are going to put new tires. They called me today to tell me to come see it tomorrow.

Well I drove the truck and it seems to shift fine. It did have some rear bumper dents....nothing terrible but I would want a new rear bumper. They offered the truck up to me at 28900 after putting new tires (some no name brand) and fixing chipped paint in the handle and fixing the tear and wear in the seat. I am still thinking about it.

I looked at KBB.com and that truck is listed with the mileage for 27000. So I think If I get it...that is what they will be offered or I would want the bumper replaced and the timing belt replaced if it has one.

they told me that two more people were coming in to look at it...Oh yeah....it had some crappy tool box that would not open on it...I told them please take it off

Blue book value in Canada buddy!!!

I wouldn't be afraid of a bone stock dmax with a little mileage. With some average care those trucks go for akin time!! Also no injector or head gasket issues on the LMM like the lly and lb7 had...I'd pay 27 no more.

Well I emailed them that if they fix the bumper, paint the chipped handles and fix the rip in the driver seat and bottom wear...and remove that nasty toolbox...then I would offer to purchase it....time will tell. I am a little nervous about the 138k miles. Anyone have any worries on that? I have had a dmax over 100 but sold it soon after that. wish i hadnt.....would have been paid for.

I'm buyin one with 110 on it right now. Actually I technically bought it already. But mine has a built tranny with only 30 on it, all cognito and fab tech HD front end components. Also it was never winter driven, IMO you can tell if a vehicle has been taken care of. Te duramax engine is capable of 4-500k. I wouldn't worry about a little mileage, but still wouldnt pay more than 27. I'd offer 25 to start.

I am still talking to them....hopefully they will deal a bit. they are still stuck on 28900. They did put new tires...but the bumper does have some dings and the seat has a rip. nothing horrible but...things I would want fixed. I am hoping they will do 27

    • Did you ever get this worked out? Mike is doing the two start thing now too. This is after a new camera back in December.
    • I’m doing an experiment on a vehicle I don’t have much money in. I’m going by the premise that after they last 100K miles they were no mechanical problems with assembly. Or defects with the parts. With oil changes by the minder for the first 127K miles when I acquired it. I quickly went through low mileage oil changes then settled on 5k oil changes with close to 170K miles on the vehicle currently. I did have the option to turn off the cylinder deactivation. I didn’t on this vehicle because it’s in ECONOMY mode at least half the time. It should be a no brainer frequent oil changes are the key. The manufacturer gets away with the long oil changes with its severe service  maintenance. Just ask them what is normal.
    • Even set to "recirculated", the air pushes out and is hot. I have noticed that sometime it doesn't want to switch between recirculated/vented air. Say it is set to Circulated Air and I want to switch to Vented, when I click the Vented button, it just quickly lights up/clicks and immediatly switches back to Circulated. It's done this a few times now. So maybe it is an actuator getting stuck? But then, that doesn't explain the hot air when everything is off does it?
    • I wonder what the price is out at the coast, Big Sur or other out of the way locations as I bet they are charging quite a premium over the in land pumps.
    • Were you looking at the HD trucks on the GM website or the half tons as that makes all the difference. As far as I know there are only two options for the HD trucks and that is the standard 2 speed transfer case or the 2 speed transfer case that has the added 4 high auto feature and they put that transfer case by default into the LTZ and High Country although its optional in the LT and not sure if its available in the work trucks.    The half tons, that is where its been a total mess in my estimation for a few years now with most trucks below the top trim having the single speed transfer case as standard but with the option of having the two speed such as one would get by choosing the Z71 package, however then not being able to get the two speed transfer case with the towing package unless it was a higher trim truck AND had the 6.2 gas so one could combine the towing package gearing diffs with the two speed transfer case. Having said that if its a trail boss package then it gets the two speed transfer case but not necessarily able to get the tow package as it would depend on trim level and engine chosen. Believe me, people have bought the GM half tons assuming "of course it will have a two speed transfer case" only to find out after when they really pay attention to what they now own .... crap, there is NO low range !.    I don't believe Ford or Ram have gone that way yet with their half tons but like I say its been a few years now that GM has done this with the half tons.
