I remember when i first saw that mega cab.. i said ' someone has to make a long bed conversion'.. just wish it wasnt a vision.. And wish it came in a 3500 srw chasis.

Also why the heck do the detune or give such a big heavy truck that is designed to haul lots.. of weight for a long time less power then the cummins in a 2500 ram?? Dont understand that at all..

Ok,.. mpg,s, but wouldnt you think that it would be less stress or reving on the motor if it had 800 ft/lbs VS 600 ft/lbs towing 16,000 lbs..

Ya know what i mean..i just dont see how that works the truck it self is so heavy and again..If its sole purpose is hauling massive ammounts of weight for a long distance you would think they would give it enough power to do the jopn without a struggle..

I just cant see a truck like that having much less pwr and tq then a reg cab long bed srw ran 2500... ya know!

Power to tow isn't all about engine power. Bigger trucks are actually 'detuned' for durability and make up for that with gears and weight. The smaller trucks are mostly consumer based sales and the people who ' want' these trucks care more about frivilous things like having 10 more HP than their neigbors truck and higher tow ratings than what is safe for their truck. Even with lower engine output this longhauler will tow more weight better than any smaller truck.

I Dodge would sell a few of these trucks.

But as stated in the comments for the stories linked; It will be a very small market segment, but it will fill a need.

I would love to see Dodge throw this truck on the market and see what happens.

If Dodge plans on a small production numbers they could make some good money from the target audience.

Me I could never meet the need nor could I afford such a truck, mine does me well.

My dad detuned his engine in the commercial fishing boat . Goes the same speed , uses less fuel, he took out some hp i think but left the TQ

That's pretty cool. Looks like a great idea actually i wonder if it come in a stick shift as well...

And Morgan you are correct, if they came out with that truck how many billy-bob Albertan's will own that???? LOTS.

 

And it will get lifted with 10 bolt 22.5" rims to boot ahaha. Albertan's love their trucks and aren't afraid to spend the $$$$ on em.
