How to mount exhaust

I got the MBRP XP Series cat back dual side exit. I will be having this installed at a shop. Should I have them weld it or use the supplied band clamps?

I've heard mixed feelings on that subject. If you're going to be out wheeling in your truck I'd say use the clamps. If something happens or you high center and tear up the muffler or pipe you can just loosen a clamp or two instead of having to cut off the exhaust. Others will tell you that welding is better for rigidity, less leaks, and that a reciprocating saw will remove anything damaged quite easily. IMO it's a toss up.

if they're the nice flat band clamps, use them it won't ever leak. if they're the shitty "u-bolt" style clamps throw them in the trash and go get the nice flat band clamps. welding it will ruin any warranty provided by mbrp and won't accomplish anything that a nice set of clamps can't

I've had one set done with clamps and about 4 done with welds. I've only had one weld set leak and the one set with clamps leaked, it really depends on the welder doing the beads. As mentioned above the the clamped set used the u-bolt style, I'll never do that again.

I had him use the flat band clamps. He was cursing the system because the pipe routing. Where the hanger was supposed to be. Things like that. Its pretty quiet at idle and cruising. I like it

I used Accuseal flat band stainless clamps. They work great!

Good choice. I have the single/side exit and I think it sounds great. The clamps that come with the system are high quality and will be fine, no need to weld them.

For band clamp to properly work the slip joint need to be notched on the outer pipe or the band will necer tighten enough

I would go with the clamps as said above, welding SS can be tricky.
