cleaning the dashboard

I once used Armor All on the dash of a vehicle, and ended up with a horrible glare/reflection in the windshield. These days I just use a damp cloth for the top of the dash but I am thinking the plastic probably needs some protection---is there anything safe to use??

Avoid ArmorHell like the plague.

I use either 303 Aerospace or Bass Boat Saver. I usually use one or the other when I clean the truck, then use the other the next time. The Bass Boat Saver is actually used to clean the gel-coat on boats, but can be used to clean nearly anything, plus it has a great scent to it.

The glare isn't from the inside of the windshield being dirty. When Armor-All is used on the dash, when the sun hits the dash, the Armor-All produces an "offgas" which causes a haze to form on the windshield.

Never used the 303, but have used windex before, and it's like armour all only without the streaks.

303 is not like Windex at all. It is a vinyl protector, like the company says "sun screen for your plastic". I clean first with just water and then put on thin coat of the 303.

I found this product because I have a FWC Hawk pop up slide in camper with vinyl sides. This is from maintenance manual:

We suggest at the beginning of camping season to clean the liner thoroughly. A protective condioner like "303 Aerospace Protectant" works very well on the vinyl liner. It can be used on all the rubber door and window seals too. Don't for get the rubber insert for the door stop. Oil based products will damage the clear window and vinyl liner.

Caution! Never use water exclusion products like "Armorall" On the clear plastic windows or vinyl liner.

I was joking about windex being like armor all, windex is kind of the redneck "clean-all". I've never liked armor all, it's way too streaky.

I've been using BMW's vinyl cleaners. I was pleased with their results on my BMW and have continued using BMW's products on my Sierra... The product leaves the vinyl with a nice matte look. I don't like shiny at all.
