Tire Cupping Question

I want to do that to mine even though they're wearing straight.

I would put them on the rear and then do a brakestand until you can't see out the windshield anymore from the smoke, that might get rid of the cupping. If it doesn't it will still be a great video to share with us.

That also might work ahah

That might defeat the purpose of trying to achieve even wear to increase tire life. Just a guess though.

While my last post was somewhat an attempt at humor, it also comes with the common belief that cupped tires cannot be fixed. While they may correct a little on the rear, they still wear, and the cupped portions will wear as well. I know those big 'ol tires aren't cheap, but if they have to be replaced in order to be fixed, you may as well have a little fun with them. You certainly won't increase the life of your tires, but it may be your best shot at achieving even wear. And the video would be awesome...

Yeah, I know. I was being a little sarcastic. Im not sure if its the common train of thought, but I was thinking that the cupped portion of the tire would wear slower than the taller portion. I know I will have to get them replaced, but Im just trying to put off the inevidible as long as possible.

I was told today that cross rotating the tires at every other rotation would help prevent the cupping as much.

i have always cross rotated every time i rotate. and i rotate about every 5000 miles.

Z71 AST, it's probably worth a shot on the cross rotation, and is standard roatation for most tires. I also read up a little on the cupping issue Courtesy of Mark and the link that he provided for Morgan (http://www.ehow.com/...ping-tires.html) and followed a few links from that one and it sounds like the cupped sections will wear a bit slower but will still wear. On another note slightly related, I saw that KMGZ400 had noted problems for people who had mounted steel wheels. Not familiar with that issue, but may have found a resolution for you if that's the case. Solves one problem, the tires(same size I believe), and another if the wheels are the issue.?.
