The new Silverado's are moving pretty well!

I know the concensus here is that the new front end is hideous and people predicted Chevy's sales would fall off because of it.  Well last month was a record month.  70 new front ended Silverado's were moved, some 80 Tahoe's/Suburban's, and I think around 30 Express Vans (commercial setup) were sold.

What's more important is that those 70 new front ended Silverado's beat the previous record set by the old front ended Silverado by 7 or 8.

No before you all go on making excuses like the Rebates help, or that the majority of people have a poor choice in asthetics, the fact still remains, that people gave GM, Chevy particulalry, their hard earned money to own these trucks.  So either they're able to stomach the new front end, they like it, or it simply doesn't matter to them.

Plain and simple, more new front ended Silverado's moved out of the lot than the previous record for old front ended Silverado's, regardless!  If our dealer moved that many, I'm sure some of the bigger truck sellers like Woodfield Chevy, RockenBach, Biggers (in Joliet) and Don McCue also moved as many.

Sorry guys, that new front end isn't hurting Chevy's sales any!!

Do you work there or just know people/hangout there?

The new look is growing on me except with the SB reg cab sportside

I hang out there now as my best friend is the GM of the place.  He's trying to get me to come back into the business and run the place, but I have reservations.  We can't wait until he gets his own place for trucks alone.  :P  His office has a hottub and wet bar.   :flag:

ask him if they need someone to wash them?   :flag:

Do they have any arrival blue CC 6.0 (or 8.1) 2500HD trucks on their lot right now?

CMNT, frankly I'm not at all surprised to hear you say this.  I see lots of them on the roads here in SE MI, and I'm out almost every day.

I am quite used to the new front clip, and while it would not have been my first choice, it makes the older clip look outdated (oh boy, here come the flames!!!  :flag:  ) IMHO.

There's more to this truck than looks, and it sounds like people are seeing that.  My experience has been great - this truck is flawless so far (except floppy mirror housings and front end alignment off a little), tighter, solid, better ride, better fit and finish and paint than my '99 (even when it was new), and I like the interior changes they made.

Personally, I think the good changes outweigh the negatives from the front clip look.

:thumb:  :thumb:  to GM overall for execution!

Hey, I'll ask what help he needs.  He's so desperate for me to come back with him and run the operations side it's insane.  He wants to build a team of people that he knows and trusts, so if he or I know, he would talk to them for a job.

The building he's moving into for fleet truck and truck sales (service too) used to be McGrath Lexus's former dealership in Hodgkins and has nice paver brick landscaping out front, a spotless service center and generally top notch accomodations.

I didn't see any blue HD's at all.  The only two he had in stock was a white crew cab 3500 and a 1500HD.  They've been selling them that fast.

Thanks Blue, I've liked them since day one (remember I was one of the few who argued for them so much).  I think they're bad A$$.  I' was even thinking about adding '03 stuff to my '02 like the taillights and other accessories that the 03's come with that my '02 didn't.

I'm not surprised either due to the great deals they've been having.   If we had a good economy the deals would be less and those ugly trucks wouldn't be moving off the lot like they are now.  Sorry, but they ruined a good looking truck, imo.

Hmmm, now just imagine how many they would sell if they kept the aggressive marketing/incentives AND if the front ends weren't hideous!

not here .

They are just siting still on the dealer lots

The ones I have seen the most have been the indian tribes fleet vehicles

just a few 03s that are owned by private parties

I've seen a fair mix of old school and new '03's here around Cleveland.  The dealers on the west side of town never seem to have that many pickups in stock anyway, so it's hard to gauge.

When I purchased my '03, I didn't even think about the looks and cosmetics.  My dealer has a good representation of both '02s and '03s and I drove both.  The '03 had a better ride (to me), especially when going over bumps and pot holes.  I liked the DIC but admittedly, had to cut back on the full package to get the color truck that I wanted (wish I hadn't now).

Nightime illumination became a major factor for me.  Total headlamp control and the high beam brilliance between the '02 and '03 had the '03 better, at least on the two trucks the dealer let me play with.

Now obviously, my test with these two trucks isn't representative of all '02s and '03s, but cosmetics really wasn't even considered.

That's irrelevant though.  I even stated that'd be one of your guys excuses!

Fact is, this is the 3rd (nearly 2nd) largest automotive sales market in the country.  They're selling period!

If they left the front end alone then applied the rebates you say?  They did and it was more aggressive before this round!  The new front ends still have surpassed old front end sales!

    • I have A 2020 1500 5.3 8 speed. LTZ. Transmission problems since 60,000 miles. Started when I go to store in morning to get my morning coffee before work leave truck running get back in put it in drive/ rev no movement step on gas a little slams into gear. Put in neutral step on gas little shake then put in gear and gose.  Shut truck off start .. ok now at stop light stop truck after a few seconds feel a little kick if that doesn’t happen stuck in 3/4 gear shut truck off wait few seconds and start usually ok again. If you down shift manually ok as long as you get into 1st before stop. If not it kicks . I WANT A NEW TRANSMISSION. Now I want a new truck it just hit 80,000 IDK IF ILL BUY CHEVY CAUSE THEY STILL HAVE THE PROBLEM AND REFUSE TO RECALL . Oh I’ve changed the fluid and filter 3 times now. And yes used mobile 1 not ac/delco cause it’s not meeting the requirements that mobile is did use ac/delco filter

    • I'm looking at carpal tunnel surgery on my left hand and lumbar fusion.
    • While waiting for parts I have been working on installing the AC compressor, new accumulator, and orifice tube. Also changed out the high side ball valve (original). The orifice tube that was in there wasn't too bad. Slightly dirty, a little bit of junk, but not blocked. Glad I changed it out.   The accumulator, which should have been a 5 minute job, may have just burned $50. Put some PAG in it, wrote the date and mileage on the side, fresh o-rings and gooey'd up the threads and rings with Nylog. Got everything connected and snugged and was going to vacuum down the system, and....   My manifold gauge won't fit on the port. It's not an R12 service port. It LOOKS like an R134 service port but the diameter is a hair too large. There's a sticker on the accumulator that says it's designed to be used with R12 and R134a systems only. So it's not R1234yf. Even if I reduced the diameter slightly with a file, the shoulder on the port is too large so the quick-connect valve won't lock on. I'm stumped. It's going back, and 50/50 on if they'll give me a refund.   Also, I did a fuel pressure test.... Key on, the gauge spikes to about 60psi and quickly bleeds off, like 2psi per second. The fuel isn't going into the plenum, no smell, starts fine, so I'm guessing there's a bad check valve in the pump and the fuel is just draining back into the tank. oh, hell. But, it shouldn't be a problem, pump primes just fine and the truck starts right up. It just means I can't really ever use fuel pressure to verify a leak at the injector or intake.
    • Got this yesterday out of nowhere. Truck is a 25',6.6 gasser with 8k miles.  Only semi anomaly is that the truck had been sitting, uncranked for 6 days. Elec Stability Control showed immediately upon cranking, not while driving. No drivability issues, just the message. Battery didn't seem to be weak when cranking over.  I drove it, killed it, let it sit a few hrs with no avail.  Truck is 100% stock. No damage.
