Elsewhere it said this car gets the LS3, so it won't have direct injection and maybe not even AFM if the article was accurate.

GOOD. I want one of these in a few years just hoping the price isn't too ridiculous or I'll have to look for a G8 instead. A lot of the guys over on Cheersandgears.com don't like that it doesn't have magnetic suspension. They are claiming it is going to be a $40K car, and for that much it should have it. I don't mind it not having it, but I would rather have the suspension versus the lane departure warning and active park assist...

GOOD.

You should just change your screen name to AFM. :)

The Pontiac G8 stood out enough on the dealership lots enough to get noticed.

Am afraid the SS is going to be too much toward the sleeper side that the avg. buyer

is not going to notice it. The interior looked great, but thinking they needed something

a little more to get people to the showroom.

Sorry I just think it's the most useless thing there is in a V8 powered vehicle that weighs over 2 tons...

Edit: Espically with 8spd transmissions on the way and VVT already here.

it looks to be a nice car, but the name is sadly LACKING; SS is a trim Level, NOT a Nameplate. this SHOULD be known as the civilian Caprice. (and if there's a Buick version of this car planned; there is only One nameplate that fits: Roadmaster.)

I agree on the name. I still think it should be called the Chevelle.

Just screwing with ya & never have owned one yet.

Would gladly trade any afm/park assist/annoying safety alarms for suspension/exhaust upgrades & what not.

Not sure calling this the Chevelle would be a good idea. Mopar diehards didn't like using Charger on a sedan, I have to imagine people might feel the same about Chevelle. But yeah, seems a bit odd to use SS as a model.

Just watched the reveal and i swear they said it will have 450 hp so maybe it will have the vette motor in it.

But the official press release says it will have the LS3 with 415hp.

So far there's not much love for this car on the internet at least. I really like it, but I just wish it didn't have all the fancy features to make it more affordable for the average person.

Manual isn't a big deal.

The 94-96 Impala SS didn't offer one, and that didn't stop people from snatching them up. Neither does the SRT 300C and Charger...and I don't think anyone here would turn one of those down (unless they're damaged in the head...lol). The vast majority of G8s didn't have one either.

I like a manual too, but I wouldn't miss one. The car is still fantastic.

After looking more, I wish they would have ditched the side vents, and given it a meaner look.

So basically, make it look pretty much like a G8, and slap a bowtie on it. :pimp:

On a positive note, the SS is 1 & 0 in its first Nascar race.

May get cursed on this, but the SS needs to steal something similar to the Fusion grill on the lower. Ditch that 6 inch tall black plastic too (guessing) that is suppose to be a bumper?

I hope you can get one without leather and all the gizmos. Cause that might be my next vehicle instead of a pickup.

Only two options will be color and sunroof. Seems GM is going down the old GTO path with this one; everything standard with a price to match. GTO's had huge rebates on them within 9 months because they were so expensive. I know, I got one cheap after waiting out the ridiculous dealer mark-ups in January 2004 (the dealer wouldn't even let you test drive unless you agreed to buy at $5,000 over sticker); by September they were begging me to buy one at $7,000 below sticker. I wouldn't be suprised to see a similar scenario play out a year from now on this new SS.
