This is interesting. Kind of thought the SS was brought over here to have a option to go against the Charger in the 4 dr rwd segment. Turns out, it was brought over for Nascar.

Yes it was. Im a big nascar fan and this is what really irritates me. GM went around touting that this car would be able to be bought by the average person and nascar fan to match the car on the track, and then they turn around and give it a premium price point. Idk about anyone else, but im not paying 40 grand for a car it's just not going to happen. I didn't pay anything near that for my truck.

After reading that article with them eating their previous words I hope the damn thing fails miserably because they'll deserve it. Morons.

On a positive note, the SS is 1 & 0 in its first Nascar race.

May get cursed on this, but the SS needs to steal something similar to the Fusion grill on the lower.

Oh God no. A copy of a car that copied another car is never good.

and then they turn around and give it a premium price point.

Where has pricing been announced?

No price yet, but from the article claiming that it will have a "premium" price point and the GM Enthusiasts on Cheers and Gears.com I guess their claiming it'll be around 40grand. Some are claiming it will be around the ZL1 price range, but I think that's a bit high even for this car.

Ok. I don't see what this car offers for a 40k+ starting point. But, we will see.

Exactly what I'm thinking. We still don't know if that will be the exact price, but im guessing that GM claiming it will be at a "premium" price point means it's not going to be cheap.

Eh not a huge fan of it.

Boring looks and with the old gen engines. Don't see it selling like crazy. IMO.

Maybe they'll do a "core" version like Chrysler and some of their models. Basically a stripper model for 5000-7500 less. Of course, those "core" models from Chrysler make me worried. If I can get a SRT8 300C for $44K or this Chevy for $40k, I would buy the Chrysler every single time..

Id like to hope so, but I doubt they will. Seems like these cars anymore are high dollar items that IMO cost way to much for something I can only drive maybe four months out of the year if im lucky.

Every time I look at a Camaro SS at a dealer it's usually between 36 and 38 grand. I didn't pay anything close to that for my truck, and I can drive it year round, tow things, haul things, and it'll still run like a scolded dog when I ask it too. :D

i personally dont think there is a huge market for this car and it will not do well.. with gas where it is and only going up, who is going to buy a big RWD V8? not to mention there will be even less reason to buy it if it has a nearly 40k price tag. it seems most people who are in the market for a bigger car like this would go for a german sedan, like an audi a4 or a6 or a bmw 3 series or 5. i know i would

im not saying the car is junk, i love anything American, RWD, and that has a V8, but in this day and age, this car should be something that is practical and reasonably priced. if it gets around 30MPG city and had a price tag starting around 25k then it would be a different story/

There's probably not. Their claiming that they don't expect to sell anymore than 5,000 of them a year. I guess it's going to be a "niche" model hence the "premium" price point.

Just amazes me at how when they first talked about doing this car it was all about Nascar, and it was going to be a car that any Nascar fan could buy to match the one on the track, and now GM has changed their tune to making it a niche model.

You'll never have anything worth driving that gets 30 mpg city, that is flat out unrealistic. But of they offered a more basic car for around $30k, I'd be in line to buy one. I can't afford a $40,000 car.
