Hello, y'all!

I'm a new member that just "inherited" a 1996 Chevy Silverado Z71 4x4 5.7L from my Manpanion. This poor baby has been sitting since 2007, when he purchased a new Avalanche. The tranny slips, but since I haven't been able to get her started, I don't know the exact details as of yet. Bought a new battery, installed it. She tries, but won't start. Dumped new gas and Seafoam in tank, and have to let that sit until tomorrow, as I'm out of time today. Also found a coolant leak (forgive me for being ignorant on exact terms, as I am not familiar with most. I do have some mechanical experience, and am eager to learn more!) coming from the metal tube just under the top radiator hose. Could this be cleaned up and need a new seal? Or something more intense?

Y'all will probably see me alot on here, as I am taking it upon myself to get this beauty fixed and on the road. My Manpanion works different hours than I do, so we rarely get the time to work on her together...

Welcome! You may be able to remove that leaking hose and clean up. Won't hurt to try.

UPDATE: While I was at work, the Manpanion has changed the tranny filter, and has concluded that the water leak is from a drain tube. Still need to refill tranny fluid. Also, hopefully the Seafoam will have helped the stale gas... put 7 gallons of fresh gas in tank as well...keep your fingers crossed!!

We'll see... just got home from work, and going to bed, but will work on the Beauty in the late morning/afternoon. Will also post pics if I can get her running and out of the garage! She's too pretty to be photo'd under artificial lighting!
