I would like to burn windows 8 with fire. But only on computers where it does not belong. Designed for tablets, but let's put it on peoples computers just to mess with them.

As I stated earlier-Windows 8 is the biggest piece of garbage to come out of MicroSoft during the last several years. It is overly complicated, over thought out.

The proof is this-it is now known that MircroSoft is coming out ith Windows 8.1 a free upgrade that will address many of the complaints of Windows 8. THEY WILL INCLUDE A START BUTTON with this upgrade. It will be out around August.

I will keep my Windows 7 machine. I returned a nice samsung computer that had windows 8. When the girl behind the counter asked me what was wrong with the machine-I simply stated "Windows 8" and handed her my receipt for a refund.

While I'm not saying windows 8 is great at least it runs. They should have put 7 as a free upgrade for vista, that would really improve customer satisfaction and probably made for a more positive view on 8. I may actually upgrade once the 8.1 comes out. I do think whatever windows 9 is will be a little more like 7 though but some of these changes are probably going to stick. If you are in a technology using job it never hurts to say you know how to use something new. Though 7 will stick around with most smart business for the lifespan of 8.

I haven't looked into it yet but I read a snippet somewhere that the start bar will just take you to the metro window lol. I'll confirm/disprove when I have time and remember. Amazing enough I really didn't have any problems with Vista. Maybe one day in the next few months I'll virtual machine 8 and see what all the fuss is about.

I believe I've heard the same. If they let you go to an all apps screen easier than the current start screen and swiping up I'd like that. It's no problem to me that the apps take up the whole screen actually kind of nice as I have a bunch of programs installed and the 7 bar is just a little cramped. I'm definitely trying a VM first as well.

Windows 8 is the biggest piece of garbage to come out of MicroSoft in a while. It is over thought, and over engineered. The biggest mistake was putting it on NON TOUCH devices/computers.

I don't have the slightest issue with windows 8 pro on my 3 year old non touch Dell laptop

The more I use my laptop the more I like Windows 8. Once my Wife's laptop gets fixed I'm going to upgrade it from Vista to 8.

The thing I like most about it is that it's fast.

Windows 8 is where it is at.. Yes it is really frustrating right away but after a week of using there is no going back... Windows 8 is so fast even without a ssd. I will never have another Win7 device. 8 is great once you get your screen to your liking an then it syncs accross all your devices. doesn't matter what PC you make the change on ... I'm currently running Windows 8.1 on my devices now and Windwos only got better especially for desktop users. I do say everyone should give it a chance and no knock it until they use it for a while

    • You're better read than that Atlas. 😏   British science fiction writer Arthur C. Clarke formulated three adages that are known as Clarke's three laws, of which the third law – that "any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" – is the best known and most widely cited.   Stribeck and the pivotable Hersey Number isn't voodoo nor snake oil. That part is physics. It's what marketing and bean counters do with it that is snake oil and voodoo.    Stribeck is the relationship between Hersey and the Coefficient of Friction. Within the Hersey Equation if viscosity and viscosity is 'Dependent' on.......heat.......and.......viscosity index or the temperature to viscosity slope.    Specifically Hersey is the viscosity AT THE TEMPERATURE IN THAT LOCATION FOR THAT SLOPE.   Hydrodynamic lubrication exist when the film thickness in the location is 3X the Ra roughness of the surface. This is irrespective of the hardness of the substrate. To obtain that thickness X viscosity is required for Y velocity at Z load. That's a lot of moving parts. It is also impossible to maintain in an ICE but nearly possible with a turbine under constant load.    What does that mean? Error heavy and operate light. Wear is inevitable but the rate of wear and the milage obtainable are a function of prevailing conditions and HABITS. The only penalty is viscous drag and at fractions so low as to be well worth the effort. Double the life, half the manufacturing carbon foot print. Greed is the only impediment.    The materials generated by SwRI are the RESULT not an estimation or a hypothesis.    Don't delude yourself sir, EV's have as many pitfalls as ICE's. We just don't know what they are yet and it will take longer to sort as MARKETING and GREEDY CEO's have had more time to polish the turd they are selling.
    • You can always count on greed to prey on ignorance and stupidity.    Friend bought a 2019 Ford Flex and asked me about using Valvoline R&P 5W30 in it. Told him give the miles on it and the fact it wasn't yet using oil that it was a good plan. He uses a Valvoline quick change shop for his oil service.   First they tell him that isn't the oil the OEM recommends. He told them he didn't care what the OEM thought. Then they floated the, "But it will void your warranty"    His reply was it's a 2019, there is no warranty and informed them their knowledge of the law was lacking.    Then they tell him 'But it will ruin your motor"!.    Mine to ruin he says. Finally they give in and charge him 150% the semi-syn price    Point it the brainwash is so embedded that even the service industry is drunk on their swill. The public is right behind them. Echoing the same lies on every forum and media platform. If the end goal is indeed EV then I'd say that ship is about built.
