Clunk shifting from 4wd HI to 2wd

This morning i shifted out of 4wd HI into 2wd, and i heard a big clunk and it felt like i shook the whole truck! I was parked at the time, and i have the electronically controlled dial to control the T case.

 

i've never noticed this before

 

i recently changed my driver side front diff seal, but i cant see that having caused this.

Any ideas???

Hmm I only hear a clunk coming out of 4 Low back to 2H. Never heard anything or felt anything from 4h to 2h.

You say you were sitting still? So most likely there was some bind in the drivetrain that "released" when you shifted out of 4WD

Sounds like normal operation. Like Nitro said, if you have any binding left in the system it will "clunk" when you shift out of 4wd (hi or Lo).

^^^^^^^what they said about binding ,,,try not to shift parked ,slightly moving is ideal

i also noticed that i have vibration happening under the cab, that i can feel through the pedal. I think it's time for a u joint inspection.. also replace drivetrain fluids

i guess these issues just arise with 90k miles
