2013 Silverado glass replacement

I am 6' 4" tall and found the drivers mirror to be unuseable due to poor range of movement. I removed the glass with a 4" putty knife from the bottom up. I then removed the 4 T10 screws out of the puck motor. I installed 4 flat washer 1/8" diameter under the bottom and right mounting screws. I installed the glass by running the bottom right side mounting pins out then latching them to the glass back. I then ran the mounting pin for the top and left side out and firmly pushed the mirror in place. This process took 15 minuets and it works great.

I'm 6'4" and don't have that problem at all. The only problem I do have is the shoulder harness upper mount won't adjust far enough up. It's almost touching my shoulder all the time. I think this is only a problem with the extended cabs though.

Ok let me alos say I have short legs with a 30" inseam. My head hit the roof while sitting properly. I will work on geting the pics included. The dealer I talked with said he has many tall customers with the same issue.

moving the seat is not a solution as, It will not go far enough down. Nice try.

Two different service writers have played with all the buttons in the truck, but offered no true solution. Am I ticked off that I spend 44,600.00 on a new truck and still need to fix what the dealer will no touch, YES. If I wanted that kind of none servcie I could buy a Ford.

But the steps I mentioned at the begining are what I belive will be a help to others, a true low cost easy solution. I was not able to find this information anywhere.

Don't be ticked off for buying a truck for 44k, which isn't all that bad, when you knew during the test ride that you didn't fit... Glad you could make it work though. You must have loved that Chevy to buy it knowing you didn't fit. Welcome to the forum.

Oh good shot, I like it. And yes I did buy the truck site unseen as it was shipped in from another dealer out of state.

 

Yes I do like the truck and have enjoyed many miles in GM products in the past. My previouse Silverado was 14 years old and almost no problems, That is the way it should be.

Oh no, you got me all wrong. I wasn't taking a shot. I've never bought a vehicle sight unseen. If I was going to, I'd probably still drive a similar one at a dealer to make sure I was happy with the ride, etc. Being happy with your previous GM stuff, you'd probably still have bought it, as would I, and just figured out a way to fix the mirror issue, which you did. And again glad you got it sorted out. It will probably help others as well.
