White1500's 2000 extended cab intro

Hey everyone, I haven't been here for too long now and it's about time that introduce my truck a little more. She's nothing out of the normal for now and we've been together for 11 years now!

My dad bought her back in 2002 when I was a freshman in highschool and I've loved her ever since, so much so that every scratch, dent, and damage done to her has been done by me! But it has been a part of the learning process that had to take place sooner or later, although thankfully nothing has ever been serious.

From brushes against a wall to a slight fender bended, they've all been due to inexperience. But the latest one was not my fault as someone rammed into her overnight when she was parked in the street! The ironic part is that she NEVER slept in the street at my parents house, and on a lucky night someone rammed into the front bumper. While it wasn't too big of a deal, the radiator support was bent and that called for the insurance to give me a new front bumper, grille, emblem, radiator support, and headlight supports (among other misc parts). So while she does have a few battle scars from her 13 years of age, she's not doing too bad but is in need of some TLC in the suspension and interior department.

Here are some of the latest pics of her from March when we took a day trip out to the Apache Trail here in Arizona. I'll try to take some more pics of her in the current clean state asap.

Now that I look back on this trip, I should have aired down the Latitude Tour's because 38psi was too much for the gnarly dirt trails! I had to crawl around because it got too bumpy, when other cars just whizzed around me.

Doing what she does best; be a great workhorse! This is from a few years back shen my dad was building a storage shed in the back yard and she did most of the carrying of the materials (Rhino Liner protected the bed from the blocks). And at the time she was on the original 16" wheels with Michelin LTX A/T tires. Those Michelins were some of the most capable all terrains that I've ever driven on! We never had any worries on any sort of terrain, even in blizzard conditions, or even clay mud up hill! But at the end of the lifespan they got a little loud, which wasn't helped by a loud left front wheel bearing.

Thanks! She's seen her fair share of miles and it's starting to show, but hopefully she will recieve a lot of attention sooner or later now that she's in my direct posession.

I plan on keeping it as long as possible too, but if I/when I move out of the country I think I would have to sell it to a good person in order to ensure its well being.

But the plans are to overhaul the entire suspension, replace power steering pump, and further down the road replace all engine seals. But before that I have to fix a leak in the a/c asap. She's at 208,xxx miles and she still pulls very hard! So she just needs a few things here and there but overall she's a great package. The thing is that over time the details were neglected since my dad mainly cared about her running, so fluid replacement and gasoline were the only things considered. :banghead:

A concept I like is "OEM Plus", in that it's as stock as possible but with a little something extra. So with finances permitting, I would consider a tune and suspension upgrades in order to improve performance.

Although right now the important things are what I stated above, because a lot of little things are adding up and they're long overdue.

The front could be a bit higher but I like it the way it is because it's useable (easy to get in and out of), and I could reach easily into the bed.

Suck it up  2.5" leveling kit, 3" rear blocks, and 1.5" body lift and 33s! That's what I've got and I can still use it just fine

Thanks for the advice but I can honestly say that I don't want lifts of any kind whatsoever. :)

Good and bad news.

I had a blown heater hose on the way to work today (business professional attire and wrestling a heater hose on the side of the highway lol), but she is now at my parents place almost ready to get back on the road. We checked everything out and put on the old hoses (only one tip was leaking) and made sure that there aren't any more leaks.

As it turns out it was the thermostats fault, so that has been replaced.

Sometime this weekend we will install the new heater hoses and add the coolant/water mix, hopefully that will be end of this little nightmare.

What coolant/water mix do you guys recommend for desert climates? FYI: Summers are brutal and winters can get to below freezing.

And not too long ago I noticed that she had the symptoms of being unbalanced so since then she's been taken in twice to get the wheels balanced. It turns out that the rear rotors are warped and completely done for, and so are the pads. I've ordered both parts that will arrive in a few days, so that will make a huge difference on the highway!

The braking has been pretty bad lately so I'm happy to get back to the proper levels asap. And finally there won't be a very annoying mix of squeals and scratching noises.

That's all to be said for now, aside from me finding a job where if I drove her every day she would rack up around 1000 miles a month! But it seems like I'll be able to carpool with a coworker and that will let my truck sit as much as possible (knock on wood). :nopity:
