Because the cover doesn't add much, if anything. The tailgate spoiler does though. Mythbusters proved several years ago that the tailgate down to reduce drag was a myth. Again, we're talking fractions of a MPG here and I doubt how much it benefits real world driving but that's what all its there for.

When I get the new K2, not sure on Chvy or GMC yet, it will have the air dam and the rear wheel wind deflectors taken off asap. I don't care how many millions of dollars they spent to develop a useless $10 piece of plastic. Looks out of place and doesn't help enough to matter.

I took the air dam AND bumper off my 2006 and replaced it with a 150 pound hunk of metal and it didn't affect mileage. IMO if you think it will look better you should go for it.
