88 Chevy 1500

I just bought my daughter her first truck and I'm wanting to help her fix it up/restore it I guess you could say. It's a 1988 Chevy 1500 with a 350 crate engine. Now obviously since I never cared anything about my cars or SUV's other than just maintaining them I know nothing about restoring them.

 

She wants to replace all the plastics (dashboard, door panels, etc.) and headliner. I know a place that'll do the headliner for $100 but haven't a clue on where to search at all for the other things. She's really big on camo and wants to do as much with it as she can.

 

The paint is actually rhinolined which wasn't done very well. Is it possible to remove all of that and start over??

I like lmc truck I have never ordered there but I have have looked alot haha. Also check amazon.com sometimes they have good deals on truck parts... Sometimes but it's worth a look

you can also check your local junkyards for parts to use, those type trucks are fairly common there. Check craigslist to you can find some pretty darn good deals on there. What all are your plans for that truck?

I am unsure of the rhino lined paint but I guess you can start with sanding it, if that's hard, take a scraper to it and see if that helps. If no go still, maybe try some aircraft stripper in an area to see if that will break down the liner.

the liner will be very very very hard to remove.. your better off the getting more liner and fixing what looks bad.

 

LMC has good stuff.. but it can get pretty pricey. for that truck check out local junkyards, you should be able to pick up a decent entire interior for dirt cheap.

good luck with your resturation, I just picked up the same truck from a buddy for some lador. I got it beause I have an 11 year old son and 8 yr old daughter that feel in love with it in his yard and are helping to fix it up. Its been a blast with them. i have been doing the junk yard trips with them its alot cheaper that way hope yours goes well
