All 3 of the engine come with VVT/AFM now.

 

I am waiting the arrival of the 6.2l as well, looking to get a GMC Sierra CC with the All Terrain package again, if I do it will order one and prob be a 2015 model in case GM gets the 8 speed auto out in time.

Does the 2014 6.2 engine come with the AFM?

Yes, the 4.3, 5.3, and 6.2 ecotec 3 engines all have AFM, VVT, and direct injection standard

One thing I also have notice is the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado owners manual that it states on page 9-73 that Chevrolet is recommending premium fuel.Then Jordan Lee chief engineer on the Gen V program ,when speaking back in Dec when he was interview about the next Gen V powertrain's both the LT1 and the L86 he stated that under heavy loads and high ambient temperatures the L86,and the LT1 would require premium fuel.Then when you go on Chevrolet website the same site 2009 GMC just posted when you look under the specs header shroll down to the powertrains offered it shows regular unleaded across the board for all 3 power trains.With diesel prices around the country running between mid grade and below premium or in some states above premium,does it make sense to buy this 6.2L verus a 6.6 DuraMax when you compare the 6.2L fuel mileage verus a 3/4 ton DuraMax 6.6L which will get better fuel mileage and what will be the better cost ?It was one thing to argue the point gas verus diesel but with the new Gen V with DI,VVT,AFM maybe the table is even now for 2011 3/4 ton max tow was 11,800 now 1/2 tons have move into that slot.

So the rumor was true that all 2014 engines would have the AFM. They can keep them, along with the astronomical sticker prices. If I buy another GM truck, it will be a Duramax or 6.0 liter non AFM HD.
