Local dealer has an 03 Z71 with 57xxx miles on it... It's an extended cab with leather and looks pretty nice.. The dealer has it listed for $13900.. I would try to get them down to around $13000. I know it's an older truck but trucks are so expensive rite now and it has low miles.. So is this a fair deal?

Also besides me looking under the truck and looking for anything obvious and checking the fluids, what else should I be looking for with this truck??

You need to post more info. That being said $13000 sounds fair to me.

Its in good shape. It has the 5.3 engine, leatther heated seats, bose audio, class 3 hitch. I know that its and older truck, but I cant find anything cheaper than this around me. It has very low miles on it for its year..

Maybe its just me but it seems high. I know my 06 didn't come with all the the bells and whistles and isn't 4WD but it did have low.miles and the LT2 package and cost me 14k in 2010. Does 4WD and some leather add such a tremendous amount? Seems like 11k would be on the high end especially with gas the way it is.

I would imagine that the main reason that you got such a good deal on that truck is due to the fact that it isnt a 4x4

It would be more than that here

I have to say the miles are scary. The truck isnt worth 13,000 even with the miles on it. Lady Driven or Old people owned vehicles which this one most likely is a retirement truck of an old man.

These vehicles are worn out at 50,000 miles because of carbon build up. The other thing you have to worry about is the age of the truck. At 50k miles at 11 years old it has probably all the org shocks and bushings on it.

The Heater core is most likely leaking after 10 + years it happens naturally over time. Another thing is the heads could be the heads that go POOP at 100k and you wouldnt know since it hasnt made it they're yet. I'd buy 100k + truck that is a 06 or 07 before that one

Not all heater cores leak. My 2004 is an 8/03 build and no leak from the heater core. Most bushings are still original and good. Shocks were changed around 80k. I have 128k now

I just looked at it a little bit more and the body seems very solid. The rockers are not at all rusted, but appears to have a little bit of paint blistering under the rocker like it has been repainted. When I speak to the guy tomorrow I am going to low ball the heck out of him and point out some stuff to him..

its worth 7500 to 8000.. blistering paint is rust.. vehicles that are that old with oddly low miles would scare me a little bit.. id almost rather pay less for a truck and get one with age appropriate miles

Probably a wreck with a cluster swap. Get as much history on it as you can. I buy and sell all the time and even here with that mileage if clean it would be around 10-11 k. And you people down south pay a lot more than we do for used...

Used vehicle(particularly trucks) went way up in early 2011...& for what ever reason, really have not came back down yet.

Used to deliver to a guy who bought & sold wholesale/lease turn in GM vehicles via smart auction. He was fixing all units(brake squeaks, check engine lights etc.), cleaning them up & selling them to dealers in ready to go condition. Somewhere between Jan - March 2011 his cost buying used in the market went up to what he was selling the same units for back in Nov-Dec. 2010. Subsequently, he closed down the shop & went back to managing a GM dealership.

Around here that's about right for the mileage and age. Trucks just hold there value up here. I would be a little concerned about the paint blister though, as mentioned before, usually signals rust underneath. I would get a carfax report and have a trusted mechanic to check it out and go from there.
