Why would you pay IL sales tax if you live in Indiana?? Don't you pay it when you register the car? We do not have sales tax here in NH but that is how it works if we buy something from Massachusetts.

That's how it works everywhere. You pay sales tax in the state where the vehicle will be registered.

Right, so I am not sure why that number is in his summary unless he meant Indiana.

I'd assume a typo, if not then Illinois owes him a couple thousand bucks lol.

The dealer has to collect the tax because IL and IN have a reciprocal agreement to collect sales tax on vehicle purchases (http://www.revenue.state.il.us/Publications/Sales/rntrrc/ST-58.pdf). When I register in IN, I will only have to pay the .75% difference between IL's rate of 6.25% and IN's rate of 7%.

It's over 7% here in Tennessee depending on which city and county you live in.

But your 7% is offset by other tax incentives Tennessee has. Illinois doesn't have any of those lol. My dad's paying close to $15k I property tax this year in IL. Such an ass backwards state.

12,000 miles is still like new, with the full warranty - be glad it's not a lemon ...

I'd say no big deal what you paid - these trucks are nice and yours is one of the nicest !

Which begs the question are there any hard and fast rules to identify a manufacturer buyback vehicle?
