Its not a 3%, not sure where someone got that and ran with it. Holdback is a 3 month security basically for loss of interest due to a vehicle sitting on the lot not sold. For a mid $50k truck your looking at around $1500.

All the price around here south they offer most $7000 off and $300 for paper work BS lol

I really consider flight to laura gmc and get the lifted SLT for the price of stock SLE.

I'll keep update if I really purchase from them.

Don't be afraid to travel. One way tickets can be cheap and sometimes it is well worth the hassle.

I ended up traveling to a different state to make my deal. The out of state dealer I used seemed to be well versed in selling to out of state customers. I pitched an OTD price to them, that covered the truck, the accessories I wanted, and also all taxes and fees. Even though I was from a different state, they were able to roll all the state taxes into the deal and we negotiated an all encompassing OTD price. When all was said and done, they had looked up what my states sales taxes were, and figured it in, they also sent me on my way with two different checks made out to my state's Secretary of State Office for both my new plates and also new title/registration. Along with the two checks, they also included a receipt showing that I had paid my sales tax on the purchase also. It was obvious that it wasn't their first time selling a new vehicle to somebody out of state. It was all quite simple and painless.

Largest dealer in Illinois, just outside Chicago.

I say do it! I drove from Kansas City to Laura to pick up my truck that I special ordered from them. No hassle no BS...easy transaction. No one locally could touch Laura's prices. In fact they told me that Laura's advertised prices were not what you would really pay. They were wrong and I couldn't be happier.

Are located near St. Louis? Laura GMC does seem to be the cheapest to get a quote from but wonder what a dealer close to me in S FL would say about them being so far away. So holdback is 3% of MSRP?

I picked up my GMC SLT Z71 (Sticker 50,345) and paid 40,400 for it from Laura Buick GMC. The paper work processing is only like $175 on top of that. I could not find any deal remotely close to this in Denver and someone posted do not be afraid of a one way ticket. To St Louis was only $132 one way. (I used points though...) I would recommend Laura if you do not mind driving it back. They quoted the price and actually beat it by a few hundred when I actually got out there.

Bkew, was that price without taxes I assume?

Yes. I have to pay the taxes in Colorado. They will not collect for my state. IF I was smart I would registered it in MT with the farm and avoid taxes =)

For those of you that bought out of town or state. How do you deal with the included service/maitenance/recall issues?

Are your hometown dealers obligated to service your truck even if you didn't buy from them?

Any Chevy/GMC dealer will be glad to perform your service work. I use one local dealer for my covered oil changes and tire rotations. I didn't buy my last two trucks there because I got a better deal elsewhere. Their service department is great and convenient so I use them.

    • If there are updates/fixes you want, you could pay to have the updates applied by the dealer.
    • Hi all - my current truck is a 2022.5 1500 High Country 3.0. I bought the truck used last year. After doing some digging, I noticed that my truck's software is stuck on the original build from 2022. I have no available software updates. I talked to my dealer about this and they recommended not trying to force an update since the 36,000 mile warranty is expired. This is a big bummer since there have been many major releases since that have fixed small issues and improved speed/usability.   For reference, the current software build number is: full_gminfo37_gb-user 10 W158E-W164.4.2-QIH22B-563.3 158 release-keys Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I just forget about it and move on, or try a different dealer?
    • Sure. Buy it for me 🤣
    • Using zip ties but 2-3 they snap due to sharp edges. Just using a shoestring. Last longer. 🤣
    • I ordered the Snap On...waiting for it to come in later this week or early next week.   New front cover, new crank seal and new balancer are on. Water pump, pulley, fan, hoses, and plastics reinstalled. I can move forward knowing all my timing marks are dead on and the front engine is hopefully sealed better than it was. Take 2 with the water pump...trying high temp thread sealer on the lower bolts.   Rebuilt injector and new-new regulator is in, it looks like new. Top intake reassembled and all the bits are reconnected and snugged down.   Thinking about knock sensors again, I located both of mine and, there's your problem, Francis... The driver's side one is broke, plastic is bashed in, part of the wire is bare, and it appears to have been damaged like that for a long time. I saw the wire but didn't think anything of it. The knock sensor might not be my pulled timing issue, but it sure looks suspect. It must still be conducting, otherwise I'd expect a CEL. But perhaps with its sacred crystal inside exposed, jilted and dirty, maybe it's sending mixed signals. So I'm waiting for one of those and a new pigtail to come in. Pass side sensor looks good, except for the spark plug wire resting on it (!). The plug wires are healthy so it shouldn't be causing an issue, but I separated them and added zip ties to nearby looms to keep everything well apart.   So, I'm down to installing a knock sensor AND, oh, replacing the exhaust and cat. I actually think that's going to be fairly easy, it's all bolt-together, all new stuff from Walker is laid out on the shop floor ready to go. Hopefully have this thing on the road again for the weekend.   My luck? It will still be leaking oil, coolant, pulled timing, intermittent CEL for running rich, or it probably won't run at all -- because that's how this project has gone.   I've never worked on a vehicle so ...hurt? ...cursed? in my life. Everything has been effed with SO HARD, but I think...knock on wood...I've managed to undo all the backyard stuff and we're almost reset back to "just" an 80k mile, 30 year old Blazer.
