Alright fellas, just tried to make my first deal and no go

Loaded 2014 GMC SLT 2wd Short Bed

Bucket Seats

Nav

Lane dept etc

Chrome 20 inch wheels

Bose

Steps

Sticker 46k

Dealer offer (James Woods Denton) $41,250 + TT&L 6.25% in Texas

My Counter was 40k out the door plus an additional 1500 for my trade

Dealer countered with same offer on the new truck but came up $500 on my trade

Negotiation Staled and I walked.

Is 40k out the door for a loaded SLT on the last day of the month and quarter reasonable?

That seems low to me. It seems to be that SLT trucks are discounted less than SLE trucks, but still.

My 52150.00 MSRP truck was bought for 42000 OTD. After tax...I had 90.00 negative equity on my 2013 (bought from same dealer), and I wrote a check for 3000.00. So I figure I got about 9000.00 off sticker total.

These great trucks are so popular the dealers can be choosy.

I wish I had bought a Denali or High Country now.

Forgive me but I'm not catching your drift. You said it sounds low but you got a bigger discount. Was my offer to low or to high?

Mattsd,

Try to rework the deal through James Wood in Decatur. I have bought 7 cars from them. Give Chad a shout. He will make it happen. 940.393.9127. Tell him Will sent you.

Well still trying to make a deal, between Chad in Decatur and McKinney GMC. Trying real hard to get 40k out the door and 28k for my 2010 Platinum 4x4 crew cab with 65k.

Dealing on a White 2014 SLT 2wd Crew Loaded to the gills except sun roof and rear slider books at $46,570.

Really hoping I can get there!

Thanks WIllc11!

mine was 44.8k sticker. 2014 Silverado z71 4x4 extra cab - 2lt - American package - convenience package - lt plus package - after rebates, negotiation, I bought the truck for 33.4k - seemed like an awesome price - BUT!! there is always a but..... it has been in the shop 4 times now for the vibration issue - seems they might know which are bad hence giving really good sales to some people -

I'm in central California. I want to buy a 2014 GMC crew cab, Z71 4x4 SLT. They seem to MSRP from $47-$52. The dealers I've gone to are offering around $47,500 out the door with current incentives. I have offered $40,000 out the door with the thinking that I would pay up to $43,000 if necessary. I can't get any of them to even counter. They are holding at their full asking price. And they tell me what a great deal it is because it's below MSRP. This seems ridiculous to me. I would never pay their full asking price. I see mostly people in other states getting much better deals. Is anybody else in California having this problem?

I just purchased my 2014 GMC Denali 6.2L CC short bed, White Diamond with every option except rear DVD with a MSRP 57k for 49K OTD with Rough Country Leveling kit and spray in bed liner before taxes. I negotiated through several dealers across the country and this was the best deal I could find. Also got 0% for 60.

Just keep looking. Also look up online who the largest volume selling dealers are in CA, AZ, OR, NV pending if you are near the state line. Generally the higher volume selling dealers have everything posted on their site.

The dealer rater site can also be helpful.

My local GMC Chevrolet dealers are lower volume(read as higher priced) & had to go about 100 miles for mine.

Right off the bat, I think you made a great deal on the trade.

I'm guessing the MSRP was 47-48 K...if so very good there too.

    • Common Sense Assembly   Your driveline is forgiving of the occasional mistake. It will even often forgive the random serious blunder. But it will not forgive a continuous bad habit.      What? Not everything needs to be a five thousand word essay.
    • We drove about 15 minute east today to visit a friend and saw a steep increase in price in the same county. About 50 cents a gallon steepper.
    • Sure about that? A degree wheel and a dial indicator would lower your degree of assurance in that statement. 😉    It why we have offset keys and dialable timing sprockets. Just say'n.... I've built a few and have never seen one "On the money".
    • I will admit I haven't experimented much with pressure drops beyond the numbers I put in and part of that is that the numbers I used are fairly low and then found out it would trigger regardless at that 35 psi. Having said that I had tried before had changed the placard pressures and being that I have a 1 ton set to 80 on the placard for the rear I believe it triggered close to 60, the front I don't recall now for sure but thought maybe it could get close to 45 from that factory 60 placard pressure. So I never did figure out if it was a number of psi from placard pressure to the alarm or a percentage of the total placard number as some figured it was like a 25% drop from placard pressure would trigger it. So as to try and answer your question, I believe I set the placard pressure on the front to 47 or so and while I run the front tires at 40, they have dipped below that some if its colder and I haven't put "winter air" in yet and never once have had the front alarm go off. I would say that the answer your looking for is no, that if you set your placard pressure to 45, you have a certain amount of room to drop below that pressure before the alarm will go off.    The pressures you decide to run in your truck, that ends up being what makes sense to you based on what your carrying in your truck or if towing, then have to bump them back up to something that will carry the load in the rear and the fronts typically left at the same pressure. It all comes down to that chart I put the link to and using an accurate roadside scale to be your guide, both unloaded and then loaded to know your minimum safe pressures.    I just wish GM would allow a person to change the readings for the tire pressures to the English system of pounds as I have to look at that goofy metric reading that will never ever jive in my head and will go over and change it just to figure out what they are if need be and then change it back.
    • That part I understand, that the dealer can do it. But I'm not understanding why updates that were available to the truck since it left the factory, or the dealership originally, would not still be available to it without dealer intervention.   I'm thinking along the lines of recalls. They stay available until they are completed, regardless of whether they are in warranty or not, or in the hands of the original owner or not. Why not updates as well, especially since some of those can be safety related also?
