Why do you HATE/LOVE a Stepside

88+ stepsides (regular cabs) just look great..

 

newer body styles dont look as good, lack of bed space.

the 88-98 stepsides look really cool, but the newer ones don't appeal to me as much.  also i don't like the $800 cost for a smaller bed

Stepsides look bumpy and are small.

Fleetsides are much more smooth looking.

on a reg cab truck they look good on an ext cab truck they look out of place

I like the extra space and the smoothness of the Fleetside compared to the Stepside personaly.  I do think the newer Stepside look a lot better than the previous model years, because of the way the front part of the bed flares out to meet the back of the cab.  Smoother looking.  I didn't like the way the back of the cab showed on the previous models.

I agree with Ryan... They look great in regular cab's but they are out of place looking in the extended cabs..  I like the newer style stepsides just because there more rounder looking.. On the downside you do lose some bed space..

 

But hey i drive a small truck as it is so i m used to it

 

Overall i would buy one!!!

This thread has my name all over it. I like the stepsides for a few different reasons. Yes you do loose some bed space but if you look closely it is not really that much. Not every truck you see is a stepside. Stepsides have closer ties with the heritage of pick-up since the original pick-ups were stepsides.

I actually like the appearance of a reg-cab stepside alot-especially GM's.  Even the Ford F150 stepside is alot better-looking than that wavy bedside panels on the regular bed Fords.  The ext-cabs with stepside look weird to me-but maybe I'm just not used to seeing them yet.

 

What I don't like is the little bit of bedspace you lose but that's not a problem for most people.  The stepside models have a more fast and sporty aggressive look to them, IMO, and that's just not the look I want with my truck.  I'd rather have a plainer-looking more workable-looking truck.  

 

Plus with all the idiots in other brand trucks that always want to try to race me in my plain green Silverado I can't imagine having a stepside!  I bet you stepside guys have jealous aholes in F150s and Tundras etc trying to mess with you all the time at stoplights!!  :notice:

 

I think it's great that GM offers so many configurations of styles, engines, chassis etc.  Ford is pretty good also in this respect but Toyota and Dodge are lame.

I like the newer (99 and up) stepsides much better then on the C/K pickups.  I also think they only look good on regular cabs, and give the truck a much sportier apperance.  And like Stepside said, alot trucks back in the early days were stepsides, even the longbeds.

 

But I wouldn't buy one because I need and 8' bed, and all the room in the bed I can get.  But if I were going to get a sporty truck just to mess around in, it would be a regular cab/stepside.

What is a Stepside used for? Is it so to help somebody get into the bed?

 

Me? I like the Stepside on Regular cabs w/ short-beds. I don't know if you can get it w/ reg. size beds but I know I like Stepside Z's. That's the best looking Stepside I've seen. ;)

 

But I prefer the config. Mark99Z71 has with his new truck. Ext. cab with a "Supersized" bed. LOL

I like the way stepsides look.  They give the truck a sporty look and are great if you climb in and out of the back.  I don't like the way that stepsides look w/ a cap on them, how it flares out in the front.  Looks goofy to me

I think stepsides are very ugly, they don't tie in with any front section at all, reg. or ext.  They also take up space I am not willing to give up.  Sure, it may not be much, but I want the space on the inside and not the outside.

 

As a HD truck guy, I also can't ignore the fact they are only available on half tons.

I like my stepside because of the unique look it has.  its just something else to set the truck apart.  It also makes it look more sporty.  I hope i dont make any enemies for this
