Differential Overfill

Spec said fill to bottom of fill plug. I filled until started to trickle out (and eventually quit). Would that be considered bottom of fill plug? Sure seems like it to me. However, the refill capacity is 1.5 quarts. I would say I put in about 1.75. All okay?

As long as the vehicle was level when filled. If the rear end or one side was raised above level then you would have added more fluid then necessary.

I wanted to switch out the 80w90 for the 75w90 synthetic. Truck only has 10k on it. I'll pull the plug on it again when hot to confirm it's at the right level (when I'm on good level ground). Seems okay though. I was secretly hoping that it was underfilled at the factory and that by doing this I would quiet down the noisy 4wd and allow it to disengage quicker upon putting back into 2wd. Oh well!
