Converting 2014 GMC SLT headlights to HID: What else do I need?

So I'm looking at the DDM Tuning HID kit: http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim-Ballast-35W-or-55W

I will be going with the 35w 5000k kit. From the research I've done, I need the 9006 bulb type to replace the 9012 HIR-2 in my 2014 GMC Sierra SLT. Since I have a SLT model, I have the LED daytime running lights. Where I'm confused is if I need to do the HID harness kit and/or error code elminators.

First is the HID harness "dual in/dual out" option basically the relay kit some use to supply power directly from the battery? If so is the factory wiring sufficient to run the HID kit without it?

Second, if I don't have to go the relay harness route, do I need error elminators or are these eliminators just needed for systems that use the headlight bulb as DRL's?

You need the harness. If you just plug into the existing wiring the lights shut off because the computer thinks the bulbs are burnt out because the HID's have decreased voltage after the initial startup...

I went back and read it again. A few people have discussed their results but I wanted to double check what I needed from DDM before ordering. It seems anyone using a relay harness hasn't had any issues. clayp installed the DDM kit with the error code elmiators on his SLE (no LED DRL). He later said "Ok the DDM tuning kit with error correctors do not ignite the DRL. The DRL will stay on only if the auto headlights were already triggered"

So in summary, a relay kit should solve any issues with either operating correctly and DRL?

What I'm wondering is if I couldl skip the relay kit on my SLT and just go with the error code elmiantors. If I had a choice, I would rather just use the code elminators as it should make installation easier as I wouldn't have to run a relay kit harness from the battery.

From the successful installs Ive seen, you purchase the DDM kit with the added 9.99$ HID harness. Dual in and out. This provides the step so your can have working lights that work with the auto lamp function and your leds work during the day.

Lets throw some part numbers up for people so in the future people will know what they need for LED equipped lightss and NON-LED equipped lights.

There no part numbers. It's all on DDM's website and non-LED equipped vehicles are a totally different animal

Update

I installed my DDM kit with the error eliminators last night (no relay harness). The lights work but will not come on automatically if the vehicle was running before the sensor switched them on. If the vehicle is started when it's already dark out they will come on and stay on. If you start it when it's light out and then cover the sensor, they will just flicker but won't turn on. If you turn the vehicle off, turn light switch from auto to on, then turn the vehicle back on they will then stay on. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me but I decided to order the relay harness. I will remove the error elimantors and just use the harness. This should solve the problem.

2nd update

We'll I removed my error elminators (capicators) and installed the DDM relay kit tonight. Everything seems to be working as it should so far. I haven't had the opportunity to test the lights coming on automatically when going from day to night (should work fine as others with relay kit haven't experienced this problem).

I also swapped out the 5000k bulbs I had orginally installed with 4500k bulbs (also from DDM). I thought the 5000k were a tad on the blue side for my preferance and didn't match the whiteness of the LED DRL lights. The 4500k bulbs match better and produce a more white light. I would highly recommend the 4500k bulbs if you want white light. Here is a comparison shot that I did before removing the 5000k bulb.

Taking a cell phone pic of my hand wasn't the best way to show the color differance (since my skin is somwhat yellow anways). I'll try to get a shot off the lights themselves so you can see them next the LED DRL's.

Should work fine with the relay harness. Good call going with 4500k. Your eyes will interpret the yellower/whiter light better than the white/blue light of the 5000k, and you will be able to see better at night since our eyes see the yellower/whiter light better than blue/white.

do these hid relay harness fit my 2014 gmc sierra projector lights i already have the hids but i turn on the truck and well the truck automatically turn on headlights and well they turn on for a few seconds and then turn off and everything is correctly installed i installed 9006 bulbs instead of 9012 Or should i go with code error ones?

Did you use a relay harness? If you didn't this exactly what I bought for my 14' Sierra SLE.
