I had planned on hooking up my Valentine One using an Invisicord as I have on lots of past vehicles. It just connects to the plug on the rear of the auto dimming mirror. But, my Denali has the Lane Departure Warning option & there is a box in front of the mirror that houses the cameras it uses. There is no plug to tap into.

Has anyone done this hard wire hookup on a truck with the Lane Departure Warning? If so, does it work the same way?

yes it works the exact same. I did it a few months back so I don't remember which wire it was; only took me a couple minutes to figure it out though.

Great! Thanks for the info.

sh00ter,

I'm in the same boat with the lane departure setup. That's why I was thinking of just running it down the pillar. If you get yours hooked up, would you mind reporting back how it went? Maybe with a pictures?

Thanks.

I think it will be cleaner looking wiring it into the overhead console & plan to go that way. I ordered an Invisicord which should be here this week & am going to wait until I have it to use in case there is a junction box I can just plug in to.

I did the same with my 2009 Tahoe but the plug was easily accessible. I'm curious to see how that LD box pops off. I'm guessing the wires might be right there without have to get into the overhead console.

Hey guys, new to GM-Trucks forum. Long time tundra guy who made the switch and freakin love the truck! Wanted to give help to anyone looking to do this mod. The difficult part was finding instructions on how to remove the mirror and plastic covering for the Lane departure warning system. (attachment). Once you remove the plastic pieces covering the mirror you can remove the mirror with the allen wrench to unplug the connection.

The plug taps for the onstar mirror are 1) 12V hot is Pin #2 Violet with green stripe wire 2) Ground is Pin # 5 solid black wire.

I used the blend mount in my prior vehicles so decided to stick with this. It cost more than the others (performance package and rogue mounts). You can use the mirror tap or cheaper invisicord. I chose to go with the latter (invisicord #N01PL micro version 16 inch with fuse). 12 inch length could work but make sure you use the micro connector taps. Not a difficult to do. Be careful when removing plastic piece number 2 on the diagram. The side tabs can stretch and break easily. other than that a piece of cake...

Yes I have the lane departure. When you remove the plastic you wont have to touch this part. Remove the mirror to allow easy installation of the inviscord to tap into the mirror connection wires. This is really the cleanest way to install the radar detector as opposed to using the A pillar or overhead console. If you have the powered mirror and Lane Departure this is especially true. You can get power from the wires going to the mirror.

I tapped into the wire that remains left after removing the mirror and connections.
