dmd277 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Can the HD function on the FM radio be turned off. If I drive a few miles out of town the radio changes back and forth from HD mode to regular mode and the reception is full of static. As it has been stated on other threads FM reception is a concern on the new trucks. I am wondering if the HD radio is part of the problem?
bladz1454 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 That right there, is HAND DOWN the most annoying thing about listening to the radio. The stupid HD on/off toggling sounds like crap and is always switching.
chuckl1218 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 In the 2014 Infotainment Systems book, it mentions that you can turn off HD in the Menu. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
fondupot Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Yea its in the system settings somewhere at "HD Switching" if I recall correctly.
steig Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 The HD radio can be turned off. My HD radio turned itself back on a few times with no human interaction. Other vehicles I own have HD radio and it works fine, dont have to turn off HD. The Silverado HD radio goes in and out of HD constantly and I stated before the FM reception is horrible.. This is the only issue that my Silverado has as of yet.
dmd277 Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Has anyone turned the HD radio off and seen there FM reception improve?
chuckl1218 Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Tried it today. No difference with HD switching on or off in mine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
dmd277 Posted November 21, 2013 Author Posted November 21, 2013 Since some members have radio reception concerns and others do not could it be that some of use have a bad antenna wire or connection or the tuner is defective in some vehicles. Since the new trucks do not have a radio head unit could it be a software problem? My 2010 Silverado with a Kenwood head unit had much better FM reception.
Mad Max Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 My new 2014 Silverado with MyLink has this problem. I'm wondering of a better antenna might at least help the situation out. I have access to the full Wilson Antenna line but don't really know where to start. I sould call WIlson
fondupot Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 If you program the channel with HD switching on, it will default back to HD switching. First tune to the channel, then turn off hd switching then program it to the favorites.
chuckl1218 Posted April 23, 2014 Posted April 23, 2014 You all might want to read the other thread on this. GM engineers are working with one our forum members to reproduce the issue. Its a long story where other antenna and booster was tried and more. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/156620-radio-reception-issues/
sailor9908 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 You can turn it off in the settings menu. I have mine turned off because where I live the reception is horrible and I got tired of it trying to acquire an hd signal.
