FM radio question

Can the HD function on the FM radio be turned off. If I drive a few miles out of town the radio changes back and forth from HD mode to regular mode and the reception is full of static. As it has been stated on other threads FM reception is a concern on the new trucks. I am wondering if the HD radio is part of the problem?

In the 2014 Infotainment Systems book, it mentions that you can turn off HD in the Menu.

The HD radio can be turned off. My HD radio turned itself back on a few times with no human interaction.

Other vehicles I own have HD radio and it works fine, dont have to turn off HD.

The Silverado HD radio goes in and out of HD constantly and I stated before the FM reception is horrible..
This is the only issue that my Silverado has as of yet.

Tried it today. No difference with HD switching on or off in mine.

Since some members have radio reception concerns and others do not could it be that some of use have a bad antenna wire or connection or the tuner is defective in some vehicles. Since the new trucks do not have a radio head unit could it be a software problem? My 2010 Silverado with a Kenwood head unit had much better FM reception.

My new 2014 Silverado with MyLink has this problem. I'm wondering of a better antenna might at least help the situation out. I have access to the full Wilson Antenna line but don't really know where to start. I sould call WIlson

If you program the channel with HD switching on, it will default back to HD switching. First tune to the channel, then turn off hd switching then program it to the favorites.

You can turn it off in the settings menu. I have mine turned off because where I live the reception is horrible and I got tired of it trying to acquire an hd signal.
