Not happy with my "condo commando" in my complex...

In my condo complex we have 6 floors of parking garage, then guest parking outside. For the 3 months I've been parking on the 6th floor where my condo is, and I park at the far end where no body ever goes anyways. Last night, I get this honda civic that follows me up the parking garage. And they're following CLOSE. Im driving the suburban and Its bothering me, because it seems like they're pushing me to go faster. I can go very fast, but its dangerous. So I decide to irritate them and go 5mph up 6 floors (I got all night buddy......) Anyways, get up to the 6th fllor and they stop halfway up the ramp. Whatever, have nice night. Im getting things out of the rear when the civic pulls up (i'm already not happy with them) and this old woman says "HEY WHERES GUEST PARKING" Im like "its downstairs where you came from....?" "WHERES YOUR PARKING STICKER I DONT SEE IT!" I had my hatch up so i start to pull it down to point at it and she speeds off. Well, screw you too then! Come to find out shes on the condo association board, and according to the neighbors shes crazy. Apparently she put over 5 "move your vehicle or it will be towed" stickers on his girlfriends car because it was parked in the wrong guest parking area. F$&^&G condo commando people!!! I was pretty upset, and I knew where her car was parked, and I had my recover hook in my reciever with some pretty bad thoughts of it going through her bumper. It bothers me to no end when someone is very upset with me because they can be, not because they have a reason.

That's the problems with Condo's. You get one whack job in the place and it ruins it for everyone. Especially when that person is in a position of power.

I think if it came down to it and I couldn't afford anything but a condo in the city I was living in, I would move to a new area where housing is cheap and buy acreage. Right now I am fortunate enough to live on 8 acres in a beautiful area. After living here I don't think I would ever want to go back to apartments or tightly packed neighborhoods with cookie cutter homes.

I found a duplex to live in at school, and it's much better than an apartment. I decide who parks where, and if someone we don't know parks there, they get a note. No repeat offenders yet.

Problem with south Florida is, you get all the retired folks who have NOTHING to do but bother other people who have jobs and responsibilities and lives. I would like to point out that if she hadn't raced me to the top then been very upset, but rather just asked if I lived there because she didn't see my sticker, then OK that's cool I understand. But nope she's got to be all upset. Lazerbluez71, I'm jealous of you living on land. I dislike being so tightly packed in. but I have a few years on being close to that. Plus I may move to Texas in the future, but that's uncertain.

I live on 20 acres in the middle of nowhere... I love it. My boyfriend however lives in a sub division north of Detroit with some really stupid jealous neighbors so I know how you feel.

Homeowner associations and similar organizations are horrible for stuff like that. Seems like every forum I'm on has threads about folks being harassed.

Hopefully she'll find some other resident to hassle instead of you....remember her name though so the next time elections for the board come up you know who to not vote for!!!!

Just another reason why I bought my 7.5 acres in the country with nearest neighbor roughly 3/4 of a mile away.....not that I don't like people, but after I get out of work I'd rather have control over if I deal with them anymore that day! Plus never been a fan of someone else telling me what I could/couldn't do to my own place....

This. I'm not going to be in a position to own a home anytime soon but once my lease is up in this complex next April I'll be looking into finding a rental house or something. Someone in one of the units above me has had a bad cough for almost two weeks and over the weekend I could've put in my DVD of Skyfall and muted the audio because one of the neighbors had it cranked. We'll see. I also want to get back to someplace more rural. I'm hardly in the city right now but I wouldn't mind having enough land where I could shoot without making the trip up to the range in Holt. When I lived in NH I was renting a home on nearly 150 acres. Landlord was fine with me shooting in the back field so long as I picked up after myself and that was exactly what I did. Nice because the range can be testy about what they'll let you use for targets so I never could've done this:

My future in-laws own a 7.8 acre lot that me and my fiance live on. There is 2 houses on the property, we have one, them the other. It works out great IMO. We don't have to bare the cost of property ownership all alone, but yet it is just like it's our own place with the exception of a few times. For those few times, I can gladly handle it for the large amount of money we save! It also lightens the work load in the yard.

My favorite pass time is to putz around on my John Deere tractor. After living here for a few years now, I can't imagine any other way of life.

This story brings back bad memories of when I lived in an apartment complex 30+ years ago. Never again.

Honestly, I don't know how people do it.

The sad thing is that the Government and the real estate market want to force everyone into small condo living for maximum density. They want everyone to have their little box inside the skyscraper and be forever happy with that.

Not me.

I'd never be able to handle it for long I live in 80 acres right now and I'm the one who had to do most of the work in taking care of things
