I've got my 1995 Chevy Z71 with 170,000 on body 130,000 on motor I know I have chances to be beat

 

what do you have age and/or mileage wise that can beat it

My 77 Chev 1/2 ton had 120,000 on it when traded in 86 for a 3/4 ton that went 110,000 to be traded in on a 99 2500 in '00 which had 186,000 on it when traded for my '11 2500 that sits at 41,000 today. :jester:

That's a good history of GM trucks I personally like the doing of the 77 and 86 I'm a bit old school for being 17 but it's my style

 

My friend has a 77 c10 stepside right now what was yours

Current has 133,000 on body and about 70,000 on motor. My old S10 died at 199,000. There is a guy here witb over 300000 on his truck

My burb has almost 250,000,engine about 150,000.Wife's burb has over 160,000.Had a '77 GMC with over 180,000 until my son ran it into a tree(really miss that truck).

Wifes Yukon XL has 198,xxx Engine/Trans never been opened up. Pistons slap as loud as my Powerstroke on cold start but still runs really good, towed a 20' car trailer with 4 quads and 13 peoples "stuff" for 9 days and 8 people inside it over 800 miles this summer running the A/C and pulled about 14 MPG and didn't burn any oil

The only problem we had on that trip was, we had stopped for fuel and my wonderful wife forgot to drop down to 3rd or turn on the tow/haul and first long grade uphill while she has the cruise set I could start to smell trans fluid ( I was following on my Harley) I pulled up next to her and politely (sarcastic) told her to downshift and turn on tow/haul

My 1990 chevy half ton has roughly 150-160kk on it we figure, not sure as the odometer stopped at 82k in 1998 or 1999 and our family has owned it since it drove off the dealership lot. Right now it's sitting in my shed as it's missing on 2 cylinders and haven't had a chance to look at it as the '14 has been getting the attention, but later this week it'll get pulled into the garage and hopefully fixed so it goes back to daily driver(29 miles round trip) status.

    • I have the same running boards on my truck and I do agree they are bulky. I also find myself stepping over them when getting in and out of the truck. Besides providing protection to the rocker panels, they aren't very useful.  I will be replacing them soon with the Amp Powersteps.

    • Thanks newdude!  By the time manual selection is needed, I'm probably too much of a control-freak to depend on the transmission sensing braking to activate automatic downshifting.  I would be anticipating the situation and already be manually downshifting.   This truck replaced a 2004.5 LLY diesel with the Allison 5-speed.  Putting it in T/H made noticeable differences (when the torque converter locked, upshift points, downshift behavior).  On this 2024 gasser with the 10L1000 I haven't been able to detect much, if any, difference.  Ok, I can never tell now when the torque converter locks up.  But I also don't notice differences in shifting.  For downhills, I've probably already manually downshifted by then anyway.  Since it's also more awkward (than the 2004.5) to engage/disengage I don't even bother.  Or maybe it doesn't really matter with just a 3k lb. camper in the bed?   Thanks also for the list of reasons the charging system might select various voltages.  However, what I am seeing doesn't fall into any of those categories.  It very definitely, and very consistently, rises after coasting/braking.  Maybe not immediately, but not very long after coasting/braking.  Very consistently drops voltage when no longer coasting/braking.  It might also be interacting with the camper battery charging (I might disconnect the camper and see if it changes the charging behavior).  I also need to recheck turning on headlights for when I want to force it to charge the camper.   Another JR, in June I converted the camper to LiFePO4.  Since it's not a good idea to try to charge lithiums directly using truck, I installed a Victron Orion XS DC-DC charger (which BTW is AMAZING!!).  Being cheap, I only had to buy that one item (besides the battery, of course) to do the conversion.  The camper OEM 120v battery charger (only 19 years old and works perfectly) and the truck feed the input to the DC-DC charger (not at the same time).  But I didn't want the camper charger feeding back to the truck so I kept the old separator.  I considered replacing the separator with a 30amp diode but that means more work and might add another 1/2 volt drop.  One thing that surprised me was the voltage drop over the long 10awg wire run, so I can only charge smoothly at 8 amps (because the DC-DC charger is completely configurable).  Another reason I don't want an added voltage drop with the diode.  I might also be a little lazy but all this work is being done under the sink with a small cabinet opening.
