Question, has anyone tried tinting (either spray or film) the lens of their light bar? I want something very light, just to take the shine/glare off of the bar so that it isn't so noticeable... I have seen where people have put a light coating of Rust-Oleum Tint Spray (or the VHB version of the same) on their headlights, tail lights, etc. with varied levels of success. Obviously, I don't want to block much of the light, but with the brightness of these bars these days, I don't see how blocking out a little bit (5% transmission loss maybe) could really be a big deal....

 

Installing a 32" Curved light bar behind my grille this weekend and would like to try to tint it before I install it!

 

Has anyone out there tried this?

Use plasti dip. Clear matte that will take most the glare away but will not effect your light out put with a film

Installed mine yesterday.

 

I used the wiring harness with the wireless remote off of eBay from this thread. This is a GREAT kit! I programmed the light bar into my homelink so it works perfect.

 

The light itself is very bright, and it mounted perfectly to the factory crossbars and centered almost like it was made for it.

 

This light off of amazon (it was around $100 shipped.)

The wireless adapter that I had installed on my truck went to shit the other night :/. So it looks like I will have to hardwire it now.

Which wireless adapter did you have? I haven't installed mine yet but the kit from infiteoffroad says that the wireless receiver needs to be water proofed before installing. I plan on using some combination of plasti-dip/electrical tape/silicon on mine before I put it in.

I've been looking at the Eyourlife bars for almost a year now. So you're happy with the bar?

 

In general, do these LED bars mounted behind the grill project light as far as the High Beams do? Do they light up objects in the distance before the High Beams do? Does mounting behind the grill lessen the width of the light beam? I would just hope the light still lights up the ditches on both sides of a 2 lane country road.

 

I have a pair of PIAA 525s which I plan on selling and then will buy a 30" LED bar. Sounds like the LED bar will be so much brighter than these PIAAs. The lumen rating is much higher on the LED bar to begin with.

Love this: Do the back bumper lights sit flush? what did you use to cut out that bumper?

I used a Drexel tool with a metal cutting disk. Very easy. They do sit flush if you want them to, but I make custome grommets to make them point level instead of the ground. The natural slope of the rear bumper would cause them to Point to the ground if you don't angle them.

What bracket did you use for the fog lights and what fog lights did you use?

I used eBay pods. They costed me $80 for all four of them. The bracket is from Rigid Industries. I didn't see the Point in paying Rigid over $400 for the same lights. I have had both on previous vehicles and there is no difference. My cheap eBay lights have lasted just as long as Rigid's. Hope that helps.

so you were able to use the new 2014+ Silverado bracket that they say is only for SRM / SRQ lights? If so, then thats great news for the rest of the Silverado owners

Yes, I was able to. I had to do some minor tweaking on the plastic housing but it wasn't that hard at all. Hardest part was making them point in the same direction.

      when it's greyed out that is it's way of telling you that it's downloading the patch in the background. Eventually it will be fully downloaded and then it will prompt you at ignition shut down to run the update. I highly recommend doing the update once you get home and can run it a few times. I've had several issues with updates not going the first time around and I had to retry the update multiple times in my driveway before it was successful.   Some updates are huge and take awhile to download. You can help it by connecting to your home WiFi and keep the truck on service mode for the ignition and keep it alive for awhile on a battery charger too. There are specs it needs to be in for updating such as a full enough battery charge, no running ignition, etc.

      I am not techy at all but wondered if you have the truck running but sitting still in park as some functions gray out as soon as the truck is moving. I believe in the settings for updates you can choose for it NOT to update and I wonder by chance if maybe that was chosen before and now it won't allow you to chose to press update, I think that is back in the settings menu where it has all the items one wants on or off etc. Also I assume you have a wifi connection and checked that it has some signal strength, not that it would have anything to do with the grayed out updates choice in that case. What I am thinking out loud of here may be be of no value but thought I would suggest it, sometimes it can be the simplest thing that resolves an issue.

      The so called rare failure that some certainly liked to tout ( die hard Ford fan boys ) as per the lifter failing and wiping out the cam. Back when it started happening the blame was being pointed to the lifters and honestly I never did hear anything myself conclusively one way or the other on that. Ford themselves in I believe 2024 had a technical bulletin I will call it that came out and for some engine platforms they were reprograming the engines idle speed but also they had a software update for the oil pump which then some time later was said what that software update did as to be increasing the oil pressure at idle. It is a good question if that issue was completely solved as one Ford specialist mechanic youtuber said he saw failures after that time period. Like anything there would be the variables, what oil is being used and the OCI and how much idle time gets put on an engine. I've seen some comments to claim that the L8T isn't so happy with high idle time either but I also know that companies that require their vehicle to idle a lot on the job don't tend to get the oil changed often enough for all those hours of idle time and go off of the odometer.

      My 2026 Silv. 1500 WT (reg cab/short bed/4wd) has the 40/20/40 with storage in lower middle seat as well as the fold-down center bolster/armrest.   With the dual glove boxes this is about as much storage as possible in a std cab IMHO. Bill

      I have a 2026 base 1500 "WT" regular cab with basic Chevy "Infotainment 3" 7-inch screen/radio. How many speakers do I have If I want to upgrade? Is the audio amp separate from the radio/display unit]? [I listen to classical and it gets a bit raspy at slightly higher volumes. Don't need a sub etc.] Do I have two or 1 speakers in the doors? etc. Thanks Bill  San Jose
