should i get a 2014

So many problems keep showing up on here. It seems like a big risk to take a truck that could live at the shop while someone else loves my old truck.

Over 5000 miles and no problems with my LTZ 4x4. You have to do what you think is right for yourself, but if you are basing your purchase on people on this forum reporting problems, you are not getting a fair representation of the scope of the problem. How many people out there are driving their trucks and happy, posting nothing. How many people don't even know what a forum is? People who read and post to forums tend to expect more from their trucks, are probably more critical of the faults they find than the ordinary consumer and are more of an enthusiast than your every day consumer.

And not to make light of any one elses problems, but how many of these problems could be resolved by turning up the radio a bit higher? The vibration problems seem more like a harmonic problem since not one single factor has solved anyone's problems. Almost like once you have it, you are not going to get rid of it.

And what about LED's around radio buttons, does it really matter?

There seems to be a fix in place for the rear window problem.

All that said, I would make sure I gave one a thurough test drive before I bought it.

Really like my 14, LT Z71. Over 5,500 and no issues. Took in for first oil change, mentioned a couple updates they performed which is expected given first year truck. Ride is awesome, super quiet, and great mileage for a full size truck. No regrets here.

But I understand worries about first year production. I normally don't buy first year but a mishap with last truck, caused by the dealers service shop forced the issue a bit. Couldn't pass up the deal they offered me. :)

What bugs? All I know of is a back sliding glass pulley? I know there were some constraints caused by supplier shortages but I wasn't really aware of anything major.

have u seen the vibration topic i have a 2014 that has been to the dealer 6 times and cant get it to stop shaking.

OHHH SO THATS THE PROBLEM the harmaonic balance. GM you should fire ur engineers and hire mike. 2 of your engineers could not solve my vibration problem and this guy solved it just by reading post lol smart guy. ill let them know maybe that will finally get rid of my vibration issue. AND IF THAT DOSE NOT FIX IT MAYBE ILL JUST "TURNING UP THE RADIO A BIT HIGHER" after all that's what the radio is for lol .

see the thing is that when you pay over 50k for something u expect (i was not over expecting don't assume, u know what they say) for everything to work good. and when you go to the dealer over and over and over for the same issue it gets aggravating, and when people who are not having any issues with their trucks say that we are "over expecting" just don't sound right. i am happy ur truck is working fine but WHO EVER IS WANTING TO BUY A NEW TRUCK MAKE SURE YOU DRIVE THE TRUCK OVER 70 if it shakes get another one quick. but i do agree with mike "You have to do what you think is right for yourself " just keep in mind what you read on these post.

I too am on here with a gripe. My voice prompts on nav are to loud

Turn the volume down when the prompt starts.

That being said, I have almost 6500 miles on my LTZ Z71 crewcab with zero issues. Ok, one issue-my ranchos are leaking.

As others have said, forums are great place for complaints and by no means are they a gauge for a products overall performance.

What ever you decide, I wish you the best!

Order it test drive it and feel the vibration then decide. And the internet is good place to find all the problems I wish I had seen the Shake and vibration form before I bought mine .. believe me I would not have bought it....( 2014 Silverado tx edition )

To the OP: This forum is just like the Jeep wrangler forum, the Corvette forum, Ford f 150 forum, and numerous others that I have been a member of. Most of what you see are people complaining about problems with their vehicles. As in the Jeep forum and Corvette forum a lot of people were having problems and my vehicles were great. On the Ford 150 forum I was one of the ones having problems. I solved that problem myself by trading my 08 Ford King Ranch in on a 10 Chevy Silverado, thus no more problems. Both of our 14 Silverado 4x4 have been great with no problems at all. I do feel for the few people that are having problems but that is what you expect to see on a forum. People usually come here to complain and see if they can find answers to their problems.

Hi all,

Should I buy a 2014 Silverado or keep my 2012, that only has 15000 miles on it. I keep reading about all the problems with the new trucks and I'm having second thoughts on the new truck I ordered. My dealer told me GM is due to start building my new truck next week. Do you guys think the bugs will be out of this 2014, since it will have such a late build date (dec)

Thanks

In think the best answer to your question is what are you going to get for your truck. It sounds like a great truck with super low miles. I'd bet the dealership is gonna try to rob you on a trade. If you could sell your truck personally and get top dollar for it then I would consider getting a '14. Don't rush it, just because you want to, cause it doesn't sound like you need to.

Don't do it bud the 14 have problems ......wait till they get a fix they run like shit....

Really. Mine runs perfect. I drove 3 different ones all were taken on a highway. All were double cabs and no issue. I mean I can feel something when it goes in V4 but it goes away instantly.

I just purchased a 2014 Silverado double cab LT. I too am experiencing a weird vibration, almost like a rumble from a diesel freight train. Took it back to the dealer, and they could not find anything. After 272k miles on my '99 Silverado, I would say at this point it had a better ride! Also notice the rumble when in V4 mode. Hope to figure this out....

New model year vehicles are a roll of the dice at best. With that said I compared them all and liked the '14 offering the best so I rolled the dice and bought it. In my limited ownership I've not experienced and of the vibration or clunking issues described on here. I see a couple quirks in mine like the gauge display marked on one line but showing the next when you select it and the knob ring lights not lighting up.

Just like watching the news mostly gives you 95% bad news these forums are the same. You don't get to hear about the "banks that didn't get robbed" and on here who is going to post about the fact their truck doesn't vibrate or doesn't clunk. They should be bulletproof for what we pay but they aren't. I'm very happy with mine so far except the MPG, but that seems to be getting better with each tank and I've only filled it up for the 2nd time yesterday................... Let's hope my "luck" continues.
