I had a single in dual out Super 10 flowmaster on my GMT 900 '07 Silverado. I would say it was as loud as duals without a muffler but did not have the crackle sound you sometimes get, just real throaty and clean. Plus my Super 10 was was all stainless, big plus for me up in the snow belt.

X pipes and H pipes work great when you have equal length piping feeding them...... forget about that on your truck so I wouldn't bother. It still will change the tone a bit but you get no advantage from one as far as scavenging goes.

 

Or just stay simple and leave it single with your choice of muffler.

I have '11 sierra 4.8 I'm running a super 44 single in, dual out to straight out the back, definately loud enough. Get compliments all the time, turn heads, wake lazy neighbors lol...
