It seems as if the color matched, un-chromed look is the trend these days. Post some pics of trucks you've seen or your own personal truck that has been color matched, whether its something small or large post it up!

The painted trucks look much better. Not into the ghetto chrome look at all.

I agree, I really hope I can find a step-less bumper so that I can color match, I reallllly don't want to paint the step bumper.

I am not into the ghetto look but I am into the chrome look. I do like the painted bumpers and mirrows but the problem that I had with my 2010 and painted bumpers and mirrows was that the paint continued to chip away everytime a small rock or whatever would hit it while driving. I had to buy touch up paint just to touch up the front bumper and painted mirrows.

If I color match the truck I will have a good quality clear bra installed. It's worth the price and new clear bra materials are almost invisible unless your told it's applied.

Thinking of color-matching my sierra, but scared to take the plunge with plast-dip. Real paint , done right is so expensive.

Wow, I didn't know that many people already colour-matched their front ends.

Who's truck is this above? Are the headlight trim pieces easy to remove? I will be painting my headlight trim and grill in the spring time but have them plasti-dipped for now.

I found that truck on Instagram and it is supposed to be easy to remove. I hope someone can post a how to on how to remove these pieces.

I second that. I was thinking about taking out the whole light and masking it off. I didnt know they popped off.

Has anyone taken out there amber turn signal pieces. I did on my older 2002 gmc and wondering if you can on these new lights. I would replace with amber bulbs.

Also you guys painting the real chrome parts (bumpers) are you stripping the chrome or how are you prepping them for paint? I'm looking for something that's not going to flake off. my buddy that paints said the color match paint will cost me $200. Just in paint and clear, and I really don't want it to start peeling.

I've painted chrome many times. You can:

a) get it burnished (think that's the right word). Which is sort of like sandblasting > prime it > paint it. Costs more $$ but will definitely not flake off.

b) scuff the chrome with sandpaper, prime and paint. I haven't seen this flake off yet either.

The only time I've heard of paint flaking off painted bumpers is when proper preparation isn't done. i.e. painting right over the chrome without primer.

I've had chrome painted by scuffing with sand paper and it was fine for the 2 years after I owned the truck.
