Hello,

So i went to a Paint shop in my local town and when i asked to get a quote for painting my Front Bumper & Rear Bumper he recommended to not paint over the chrome because it would just chip off in a couple years. Has anyone else been told this or seen this on their Truck ?

i would like to hear how yours turned out and is lasting. i plan on having mine painted "Fire Red" to match - also any luck with the fender well pieces? mine our currently black.

Oh and how is everyone painting the inside of their headlights.

I finally got my grille and headlights. I installed this past Sunday, and I am loving the look!!! I thought I wanted to do the bumpers also one day, but I think I like this amount of chrome... The grille was just too much for me. I'm wanting to lift level the front and throw in a new intake and muffler next.

How long have you had the color match and how has the paint held up with the work truck grille?? Thinking of color matching my grille but want to see how the WT grille has held up

I had the chrome on the outside of the grille wrapped in glossy black. Its actually pretty close. Just a tad lighter. And installed my 2016 headlights.

I generally hate all chrome, but that is a good looking truck.

Thank you. I didn't like all the chrome on front of the original grille wrapping the outer trim is perfect IMO

mirror caps are next! looks awesome

My chrome front bumper has been painted white for 2 years now and barely have any rock chips. Is held up really well. The inside of the Headlights on mine I used just regular rustoleum white gloss paint and it looks fine. 1e2ff3eb7eda97bf276c7f6de6f522c3.jpg

Looks awesome! Did they just paint over the chrome? How are your parking sensors working after getting them painted? Is that Cubs blue?

Yeah they sanded the chrome and painted over on everything besides the bumpers. I had to buy a primed bumper for a high country and then they painted that. Almost 2 years later I have plenty of rock chips tho. You can’t tell unless you really look for them when it just got cleaned. I wouldn’t call it Cubs blue but close enough to where I HAD to get Cubs plates! Still worth it and if need be I will just have a touch up job in the future to get rid of the chips. I don’t have the confidence I myself can dab the touch up stuff on there and make it look okay.

I did my 2014 silverado color match. I spent alot of time looking for a used painted bumper and found a rear one on craiglist and picked it up for 200. was a 2017 silver bumper, and yes, 2016+ fit 2014 just fine. I then purchased a paintable front bumper online four about 350 without any of the interior parts, so the mounting brackets and plastics and other parts i had to transfer from my original bumper to the new one. I got them painted for about $300 and put it all together. here is the finished product!

Look's good -  I have 3m clear film on the bumper / grill & 8" strip on the hood . NO rock chips , still look's new 3 yrs later . something to think about.

    • I am having similar issues.. 08, 4.8L granted I did had a fender bender and minor damage up front passenger side but I don’t think it had anything to do with it.. I had the high and low pressure checked and my fan for my radiator keeps coming on.. replaced the pressure switch and don’t want to keep throwing parts at it. I did have some minor problems here and there like on long road trips sometimes the ac would get a little warm and then on the highway as soon as I give it a little gas or get a little heavier on the petal it started running cooler. Never had an issue with the ac besides the here and there.. but I also started having issues when I fuel up now it takes a bit to start ( super embarrassing) it runs fine and once started ( only happens after fueling up) starts fine any other time. Could they be related?
    • Spent a small fortune on fuel this weekend.   $6.69 diesel, 18 gallons of that. $6.99 92-octane ethanol free, 10 gallons of that for yard machines $5.59 87-octane for one of the cars, 11 gallons.   $250+ and I didn't even get a tug.   Hormuz ain't Hormuzin again, did not see that coming...LOL
    • Appreciate the advice. I've watched multiple videos. Most showing the most complex for those that have a center console, to one that showed maybe 2 pieces of trim being removed, like 6 screws, pulling back the screen and switch assembly, and installing the inline module. And this was a new/newer Silverado. That didn't look too bad. All the others show alot of trim pieces that need to be removed. I've broken those kind of tabs/clips on my C8 Corvette trying to get to the battery, and that was a lot less clips than what I think is involved here after watching multiple videos and looking at my dash today. I have one on the way. Called a reputable stereo place about installing it and got a "minimum" price of $175. Ouch! Looking forward to seeing what the instructions have to say.
    • Hard to say what the issue might be. Anything from the ability to cool the AC condenser up front, to blend door issues in the HVAC unit, to refrigerant charge, to compressor issues or issues in the lines.   Report back what the techs find on the 29th.   GM has service publications which list acceptable vent temperatures and AC pressures at given ambient temps and humidity. They probably won't touch the system if it's operating within those ranges.   I'm also surprised to hear your 2024 with the L8T is still using R134a? I was pretty sure the HD's had switched to the new refrigerant around 2020.
