Tailgate Theft / Additional Locks?

I see that many talk about installing a hose clamp. I already tried that but unfortunately, it does not work. On the 2014 models, the mount where the tailgate bolt fits in is not straight. It is kind of coned shaped. So the clamp slides down as you tighten it. Additionally, there is very little wiggle room in the back to thread some type of rubber or hose type material to prevent the clamp from sliding.

Has anyone used an after market product on a 2014 truck? Yes, I keep my tailgate locked but in the event that I forgot to lock it I want to have a backup plan. Eventually I plan to install the electronic lock that is tied to the power lock system.

Yes, that is in the plans for the future. I saw your installation report on another thread which was very helpful and made me make up my decision. I am looking for plan B on the mean time. Thanks.

If you have the cash, just order the power lock asap. Should only take you about 30 mins to install.

Moto,

My truck is on the train headed this way & I'm thinking about getting this gizmo. Are you still happy with it since you've had it installed for a while now?

Thanks

Yep, I keep it locked all the time plus after learning about the hose clamp idea from this forum I went ahead and put one on to help deter the quick grab-and-go thief.. But if they really want it I'm sure they'll have a screwdriver handy.

Yes, still happy with it. No problems/issues so far.

$2500 to replace it if you have camera and all the fancy stuff... Mine is always locked.

Here's the MasterLock tailgate lock, which I mentioned in an earlier post in this thread:

Thanks for posting an answer/picture involving an actual 2014 model.

I will be installing my pop-n-lock today. Shout out to MotoMedic for taking the time to do a detailed install tutorial. Instructions for the manufacturer plain suck.

I was going to install it when I put my AMP boards on but ran out of time.

I will try to install the pop n lock today. I'm tired of going in and out to unlock it with the key while the engine is running. . Thanks Moto for the link...

Went to install the pop and lock opened the box and low and behold there was no instructions, nor was there any retainer clip. Instruction were not a show stopper but the clip is.

Oh well, guess I'll call them Monday....
