Myself, I only have 4 more payments on my truck & then it'll be paid off!
My truck almost has 165K on it, but next truck will be a 6.2L CC or a Duramax....
Could get like an '08 GMC Denali HD. Love.

Unless you have a 6.0 or 6.2 or whatever in that 08 the fact that your driving a V8 pickup w/ the power of a V6 a cast iron block and I would assume a 4 speed tranny should be enough incentive, if you're in the market to buy a new one that is.

 

If I had a well maintained 08 4x4 truck paid off right now personally I'd keep it and get a muscle car/toy instead....but that's me

I pay cash for my vehicles. Paying cash is a game changer as once you do it the first time, you will refuse to be the bank's bitch ever again. You will only buy a truck when the old one needs replaced, not because something "new & improved" is out there and the payment stays the same. (Never mind that it gets reset for another 60 months or so.

 

So tell us, why do you want to get rid of your "solid 2008 that is almost paid for?"

 

 

Would love to be able to pay cash for a new vehicle. Wasn't in the cards last spring. That said, can anyone imagine the car market transition over say 15 years IF cash became king again & cars were no longer financed? The difference in value alone would be insane. Still remember late 90's extended cab 4wd p/u's getting traded off for 4/5/6 grand in '03-05. The perception was they were old wore out at 7 or 8 years. Guess at 15 years they have found their second wind as NOW that same truck sits on dealer lots for 12-15 thousand.

 

To the original poster, I would wait 'n see what they bring to the '15-'16 models IF there is nothing mechanically wrong with yours. If you have to finance, watch the interest rates. As soon as the Fed lets off the $85 Billion a month printing press, rates will go up immediately.
