Truck is finally in

Yes, it matters. If they started building all GM trucks in China next year, would you really stand in line to fork over $ 60k (and they will get those sticker prices to that level soon) to get one? Not me. I would be very suspicious of quality.

If the truck came from China I wouldn't buy it nor would GM ever do that anyhow. But there have been no crew cab-specific (aka Mexico-specific) issues on the 2014s that I am aware of nor were there any on the 900s. I can't say I care much since I'll be buying a regular or double cab which are made in Fort Wayne anyhow. Bemoan the movement of production outside the US all you want but its the greed of the workers here that caused it. Most line workers for the import plants down south make like $15-$18/hour whereas folks up here doing the same damn job for GM, Ford and Chrysler get twice that in most cases. I've never been much for understanding concepts related to economics but even I can see this one is unsustainable.

Before signing papers I agree drive it for vibrations..check the dash for warpage..check the radio lights..check plastic around seats..

I only had a huge vibration that was fixed w new tires and I can deal w the radio leds..

Love my truck)

As i test drive it tomorrow, what vibrations am i looking for exactly, just at highway speeds? also what radio lights not working? and what plastic on the seats?

What I'm trying to say is if you want the truck bad enough to order/buy one give it the benefit of the doubt so to speak. That's what warranties are for. To further make my point of the 35-40 new GM vehicles that I've owned in the past I can probably count on one hand the times I've had to take any of them back for warranty work. You guys sound like you EXPECT to have a problem right out of the gate. Sorry, I just don't get it.

"Benefit of the doubt"? What kinda of talk is that? We are talking about an expensive physical item purchase and not some human relationship you would actually give the benefit of the doubt to.

Glad you to see you have a charmed life but for the rest of us in the real world, we like to make sure what we are buying if fit for the intended purpose with no apparent defects. Easier to take care of problem before hand than after the expensive paid fact.

Congrats! I would only say look it over real good I worked in a dealership and we had some "late" ordered vehicles that spent time in the body shop while the managers told them they were delayed in shipping

Thanks,

I know the dealer pretty well and have multiple friends that work there so i'm not as worried about that. I will look for the illuminated rings and other problems.

Just delivered to my work... its cold up here in MN so i'll get more pics when its a little warmer out... got the chevy bedrug (they made a mistake, was suppose to be the standard but i'll take the extra bowtie) and access Laredo on it. Have a few other options that aren't on it yet.

Is GM building better quality clearcoated wheels yet? If not, these will be corroded by the time the winter is over.

congrats OP on the new truck you will love it. i have loved every second driving mine (except for when i was deathly sick but even that was debateable).

everyone who wants to get in a pissing match on economics and if these trucks are american or not make another thread. this thread is for the OP new purchase.

Congrats on the new truck. I agree with you...don't buy a GM if you are going to doubt it from the beginning. I understand lots of people have had some issues with their trucks. But what the don't realize is that a few dozen people on this forum that have had major problems makes up a small percent of the trucks sold. Regardless of what truck you buy their is a chance of problems. Although dealing with warranty issues can be a pain some times, if you get GM directly involved and not just the dealer they will take care of you sooner or later. There have been a couple of people on here that had problems that couldn't be resolved so GM traded them for another new truck. To me that's good service. If you are happy with your truck that's all that matters. Have fun with it.

My truck is on its third winter and aside from minor damage caused by the hacks at discount tire they look new.

Yea i'm happy so far, I take each comment on here with a grain of salt, unfortunately some people get bad trucks, my first chevy silverado was amazing, nothing really ever needed, my last loaded avalanche i put $900 in electronic lock modules in it and countless other electrical issues. I'm just hoping this one isn't a lemon. So far i really like it it, drives really quiet, take it on my first road trip tomorrow for 500 miles round trip, that should be a nice test.
