XM - Traffic

So I was entering a destination address on my NAV as I normally do.

After a short drive I noticed the traffic is no longer showing on the map as it normally do, so I checked the traffic settings and it says that my XM trail period has ended and I have to enroll in order to see traffic on the map.

So finding the traffic is handled by XM and not On-star hit me with a surprise.

I think it would make sense for some people to think twice before they cancel their On-Star subscription if it would include this feature of traffic, maybe it would worth those few bucks a month (although many aftermarket gps's have that feature included) but to pay XM for just traffic (I'm not using XM)? and On-Star for all the rest? I don't think so

IMO without the traffic it makes the NAV useless compared to my iphone maps/google maps/waze, especially in the LA area.

Did anyone experienced this?

Call XM and tell them you like their service but it's too expensive. They will give you 5 months for $25 or something similar to that. Just keep calling every 5 months or whatever the time frame might be and tell them same thing...

The weather on the Nav is also prrovided by XM. They gave me a special promotion to keep it going. Not needed really since I have weather on iPhone, but it is nice to have.

Yeah, the services are decent, but WAY too expensive. I'm going to haggle with them when my trial is up. I at least want the Nav Traffic.

The traffic and weather is way too expensive... The traffic was absolutely horrible on my truck granted I have a gmt900 it was always completely wrong.. The weather would show up for a city about 50 miles from where I actually was too

I was actually starting to get use to using the NAV, it was nice to have my phone available for phone calls and not to worry about quitting the NAV screen and missing the next turn.

I think I'll give XM a call to see if I can get a good deal.

It is nice that they allow you to use the nav while driving now. You just have to "accept" the risk when the liability clause pops up.
