Were you able to get the 3 USBs up front fully functional using the standard USB to mini cable in combo with the existing cable to the HMI? I was thinking of doing the same thing since the USB is pretty useless to me in the glove box. This is the last piece I want to figure out before installing the console. I've already combined both harnesses to make one hybrid...

The 3 USBs up front will all charge with the standard to mini and existing USB to HMI cord but do not communicate with the radio like the ones inside the console. Like you said though the one in the glovebox is quite useless to me too. Rather have the 3 upfront charging than the one in he glovebox

is it true the black console is no longer available? every place I've checked says its discontinued.

Seen lots of 2017s with full consoles on the lot- the part number you are using probably references the console without the wireless charger , all the new ones have the wireless charger , no option without . They may not be making them anymore without, but don't quote me on that

Called a couple dealers, they said the same thing. Black center console isn't available for purchase. Only "cocoa" color. Well this sucks..

Did yours come with the padded leather top? I don't see it in the picture. 400 shipped on eBay but 550 shipped from gmpartsdirect. Wow!

The picture is deceiving...mine came complete with the black padded top (don't think it's leather) and the back panel. The other pieces you need are the front bracket, the side trim (left and right) and the top plate which comes with the cup holder...

I have a top plate for sale for 16-17. USB 2-12v and 110v

I just finished the swap and would like to thank those ahead of me for all the information.

I used these part numbers

23467113 Upper trim panel in Synthesis

22776807 Console assembly front bracket

23467516 Side trim

22817347 Side trim

23466980 Console

19303284 Cable from HMI to USB

I have a 2016 2500HD LT model with black leather seat. The cable I used is a perfect match to the HMI and USB(3) ports. I used the existing harness for the rear ports, and then salvaged the LED wiring, a 12V plug, and USB power plug from the new harness. I spliced the three together and connected them to continuous power at the fuse panel on right side. I then removed the glove box USB cable and used the open port on the HMI for the new cable to the triple USB port.

I have everything working including data and charging at the USB's. I originally had Apple carplay in the original configuration, but that no longer works. I think it might be due to the new console and the ports that are installed. Carplay wasnt' available on the 2015 models, so it may be the configuration of the hub built into the ports. I found another console 23466999 which I believe is for the 2016 models but I couldn't confirm that. I also preferred having the SD card slot over the carplay feature.

How did you setup your wiring to get data and charging to the front USBs? Did you splice together the two USB power harnesses (red, black, blue, green, purple and gray wires)? I'm going to use the existing HMI cable from the goovebox and add a mini USB to standard USB cable to the front USBs which should work...

I did not splice those two together. I used the red and black wires only from the USB power plug off the new harness. I believe TBarn stated in an earlier post that the other wires (blue, green, purple, and gray) weren't used for anything. I spliced the (red and black) with the (Purple/yellow and black) from the 12V plug as well as the (brown/white and black) from the LED wiring. Then I connected those two single leads to power and ground. I didn't want to splice into the existing harness at all for warranty reasons.

So I have one lead that powers the LED, additional 12V plug and Triple USB port in front of console. For the Data portion I used the cable listed above AC Delco 19303284 to run from the Triple USB to the HMI. I didn't want an additional connection involved with the data transfer, and everything snapped together like OEM.

Hope this helps.

Interesting...I would not think that the front USBs would work for data without connecting all the wires from the harness. Others have failed to get data with the same setup. I have my wiring done and will install the console this weekend and report back. Thanks.

^^ also interested to know if that works out for you -and which coloured port on the HMI you used to get it to work.... defiantly worth the couple extra bucks to buy the Delco cable to have it function that way, and strange how a setup like mine does not....

It is working. To verify, I shut off bluetooth on my phone, ejected data card, so the only input I have is the lightning cable from my iphone plugged into the USB port.

The cable I specified above is color coded with a green end to match the green input (port originally used for glove box USB cable connection) on the HMI, and a grey end for the port on the rear of the triple USB. More importantly, the angled notch is on the correct side for each plug, so there is no trimming needed and they snap in solidly.

    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
    • I gotta say, I'm enjoying your narration. The troubles you've been having are amusing as you describe them. It's good to see that you're finally getting some satisfaction out the old beast though.
