Hey guys I am new to the site, and wanting some in site. I am wanting to buy a new truck and debating on a '13 or '14. Pros,cons? Wanting a crew cab but could possibly go with ext. Money is key.

Because with beer, you can sit & type out WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. The above is pretty vague. Gas, diesel, cab size, towing or asphalt queen. Some details would

be helpful.

Well the mist towing bit would see would be maybe 7k, mostly a daily driver tho. I would haul anything from a load of would to a four wheeler etc. I am just looking for a 1/2 ton. Preferably a crew cab, thought about and ext cab for the little extra bed space. Also can't decide between the 5.3 or 6.2.

And yes within a 200 mile radius I have found many 13's.

You can get the 6.5' bed crew on the 2014 K2. Would be stuck with the short bed on the 2013 GMT900. That said the 2014 5.3 is 355hp 383 torque while the 2013 5.3 315hp 335 torque. To get the 6.2 on the current models needs to be a top trim line of either LTZ/SLT at a $1995 option price. I bought a 2013 GMT 900 with a 6.2 & it was a $1000 option & was in a SLE package. Maybe in 2015 they will offer the 6.2 in lower trims, but not currently. The quick mpg driving that truck in & around town is roughly 14, was closer to 16 on summer fuel & less warm up/left running stuff.

 

The comfort, convenience & technology points to the new 2014 K2 design, but cash out of pocket points to the 2013 GMT900. You mentioned money is key & if you keep it long term 5/7/9 years etc. resale will be a wash vs what you saved at initial purchase.

is there even cash left on the hoods of the 13's? I know the dealers will cut deep on them but doesn't look like GM is offering anything anymore other than owner loyalty

Thanx for the info I have some deciding to do. I am thinking I'd rather have the 6.2. Which I cannot find in a 13 model but I don't want the top trim either.....

Around here they already have advertisements of something like 9000 off sticker on some of the 14s, so you know they went overboard with MSRP. 14s will have a lot of negotiating room I'd think.

That's what I've decided. I would like a 6.2 tho , but you can't have your cake and eat it.

if you haul a quad in the bed get the ext cab, my utility quad barely fits in my bed with the tail gate up but i love my crew

I am admittedly biased, but I would look for a 2013 6.2. Should get a good deal on one and a 6.2 with no afm. AFM is great for some and not for others.

You can get a crew cab with a 6.5' bed now. :thumbs:

I like the 14 look but I've found good deals on 5.3 13's play in it buy year best deal will win
