High Country wheels are gone, picked up these Chevy 22's yesterday. I think I'm going to ditch the toolbox and go with a tonneau cover, just gotta decide which one....

When a manufacturer offers factory installed 22" wheels with the Z71 off-road suspension, this means that he is certifying that combination for off-road use (occassional or frequent). This makes no sense to me. That was probably the biggest reason why I commented on it. I agree that 22" rims with 40 to 50 aspect ratio tires are fine for road use.

The Z71 package doesn't "certify" the truck for anything. About the only time that comes into play is for things like the plow prep pkg or the police/pursuit pkg.

My non-Z71 2003 managed to go off road despite not being "certified" to do so:

Wish I had more than a thumbnail for this one. With the fall colors it was a nice pic:

I'm not sure 22" wheels even existed for trucks when this was done- 2006 I think?

Gm wouldnt put 22s on stock if they rode bad. Theres the answer

Escalade = Stock 22's (07-13 carrying to 15)

Escalade = incredible ride

Escalade = owned 3…have yet to bend a 22" stock wheel; and I'm not too careful on stocks.

F-150 Harley = 22's

20's are new industry standard on pickups therefore making 22's a very practical upgrade…it's 2014 guys, technology and times have changed.

22s are for pavement, 18s and 20s are for off-road. It's that simple. It's all about the tires you can buy for them. Choose whatever option works for you. They can both be good depending on your situation.

I had 18's on my last truck, 17's on the one prior.. I always thought they looked goofy as hell and wanted 20's, but knew the ride would be rougher... Im glad I have 20's now though. Looks way nicer, and still capable offroad. I think 22's look badass, as long as you stick to the street, which I'm sure most people with em do. It's silly arguing about it.. No one with 22's said they were going mudding with em. Hell, I wish I had a job where my truck never left the pavement.

Wow. Those sure are pricey

i agree Hydro, keep your eyes peeled on EBay and Craigslist, generally can find a much better deal. I luckily found a guy on Craigslist here in Houston that had them new in boxes.

They also wouldn't put crappy tires that vibrate on new trucks either. :rolleyes:
