Ok i waited awhile so i could go drive a new truck with the 6.2 engine. The dealer finally has one and im taking my buddy with me. He keeps saying i shouldn't have waited and that i should have just got the 5.3. He bought a new truck 5 months ago with a 5.3 and he loves it. Im second guessing myself now thinking what if it doesnt feel any stronger than the 5.3. His truck will get up and go but its not fast enough for me. Im driving his truck there just so i can get a feel and see. Will let you guys know how it goes.

Reports say the 6.2 is considerably faster than the 5.3. I personally think the 5.3 has great get up and go.

But if its speed you are looking for, go get a Camaro.

I haven't owned a gas engine since the '96 5.7. Still have it kicking around through the family, actually. But from what I've heard from 5.3 vs 6.2 is that if you are able to go to the 6.2 you will be pleased that you did. More power, more towing, faster, and without a huge difference in mileage. Again, not from personal experience, but from people who run gas trucks.

Hmm I may just go back over and trade for a 6.2 it sounds really good. I think I might get the dark blue color also. Let me know if you see one like that and I may get it if you do not want it.

I have one on order and I haven't even driven a 6.2L. But from tests I found on Youtube and others saying it is a beast... I couldn't resist as I just wouldn't be happy with the 5.3. Especially since the gas mileage is much improved over the Gen IV 6.2L. Nothing against the 5.3, it's just not for my particular needs.

Why should someone buy a Camaro just because they want more power???

I sold a Vette in order to consolidate vehicles and waited for a 6.2 and am glad I did, the 5.3 feels like a dog compared to the 6.2. Plus I need a truck, so a Camaro does me no good. My thing was if I was going to sell a 5.3 2010 Sierra and the Vette I was going to make sure I got the truck I wanted so that I would be happy and to make sure I wouldn't put myself in a position to where I was bored with the trucks performance down the road and would be tempted to trade in to get the 6.2.

it only took once test drive of the 6.2 to re-affirm my wants and to confirm that I was right in leaving the dealership that tried to tell me the 6.2's were not on the lot and to just take what ever 4x4 truck they had on their lot. Once dealers start to listen to the customers desires the more sales the dealers will make, in this case that dealer lost my sale and a dealer an hour away got it instead.

All i can say is no replacement for displacement. The 6.2 is much faster and powerful than the 5.3. It has a much stronger pull and flys. Completely changed buddies mind. When i pulled out normal it felt similar to 5.3 and then i hammered it and i knew right away it was fast. Im working a deal out right now. Even if you already bought a truck just go test drive one. Btw it was so responsive from any speed i was going 80mph and floored it and it pulled like a freight train.

Go drive a 6.2 and tell me if it wont blow a 5.3 away. 0-60 isn't the best acceleration reader. The 6.2 spins out of the hole from a dead stop. The 5.3 doesn't put you in the seat and hold you or kick from any speed. If you dont performance than the 5.3 just fine but the 6.2 is in a whole different league.

"I have to much power"?

^^^ What he said..lol..I just upgraded from a lowly Ford 4.6 to a 2012 5.3 and wow. My boss has an Escalade with the 6.2 and its amazing..I couldn't find a used one in my price range but I am ok...for now until the mod bug bites.
