Is just a billet grill insert from eBay, after installing it I cut the honey comb from behind so it would look more like a cool grill and not just an insert.

I ordered one off of Amazon and the brackets to connect to my grill did not match up. I doubt I will find one online I like without a specific sn or a direct reference. That is why I asked

Oh ok, yea I see how that can happen. See the honey comb grills have to attach differently then the z71 or high country grill. So you would need one that specifies for your current grill so it can have the correct fittings. Mine said for my type of grill and it had an x over a z71 grill, it attaches with some small metal brackets.

This one is for a honey comb grill

So what is your submodel? And do you have any information on the grille so I can check it out on ebay if it matches my submodel

Mine is a 2wt trim level. The link I posted on the top post is for a honey comb grill, it says under the description NOT for z71 grill.

Ltz have a chrome honey comb, so insert on the post up top should fit. But you will be able to see the chrome behind it. Unless your down to cut the chrome after the grill insert is on

That is not easy. I would rather have a piece that would mount In my grille. Since I pulled it all apart and saw first hand how hard it is. I might have to check out a custom shop locally

They sell whole grills for like $200 I think and they look pretty cool to me.

After looking around on websites and talking with a local shop they suggested this manufacturer and I found this part specifically https://www.realtruck.com/t-rex-x-metal-grille/6711211.html

Hey guys,

Cant seem to find any valuable information around on the internet to do with this.
Glad this topic was started!

Gonna give you guys a ilttle information here, i drive a:

2014 silverado LT

This was a very stripped down truck when i bought it. Has the smaller radio, no trailer hitch, no back up camera, no heated mirrors, not even fog lights.

Anyways, I had found a pair of headlights on craigslist for a great deal. 250 bucks for a pair of WinJet aftermarkets with the DRL built into the housing as the picture below shows.

Previous owner put in high quality halogen for the lows and HID's for the high beams.

$_35.JPG?set_id=880000500F

When i bought them he told me to splice into the parking light wire for the LED DRL's. I did and everything works fine except 1 thing, when i hit lock twice it used to shut off my headlights and for some reason now i have to wait for them to time out after about 30 seconds. Not a big deal but if anyone knows a way around this PM me.

Second, since i tapped into the parking lights my LED's are very dim during the day (almost non visible) and then really shine at night. Is there any way to get those LED's to light up regardless of day/night?

The lights turning off when locking it twice should turn the lights off almost immediately. Maybe check your settings on your radio and you can change the light dim time out on there. As far as them being brighter at night, we'll you tap into the correct place (parking lights) but the lights themselves might not be so bright during the day and makes you feel like they are super bright at night. Parking lights atleast on my truck only turn on at night or if I turn the headlight knob. So is always a solid power output. My Anzo Headlights have u bars and they turn on with the parking lights, they aren't super bright during the day to the point where on direct sunlight you can't see them. But at night they look awesome.

Yeah,

That was what i was confused about. My OEM turned lights off imediatly on double tapping the lock and these do not. Only thing i can think of is the LED's i wired into the park light circuit is backfeeding power telling them to stay on until the truck times out.

On my truck i can see the LED's on during the day but they are super dim, like you said cant even hardly see them. I was kind of under the impression that even the Anzo/ other brands stayed lit at daytime and night at full power. I only thought that becuase i see quite a few people driving around with halo's on during the day on imported cars and such.

At night they light up awesome and look great, so either way its not a big deal. Was just looking to see if anyone had a quick fix.

would it be possible to cut the DRL low beam wire, run that to the LED strip then splice that into the ground on the headlight connector? i would buy these in a heartbeat if i dont get any bulb out alarms but i dont like the headlights on all day but wouldent mind a led strip.

Hmmm. The way the headlights were wired when i bought them were plug and play with one power wire for the LED's coming out the back of the housing. I think that would work electrical wise, but even my low beams are very dim during the day so i dont think this would help with brightness.

As for my set, i never got a CEL or bulb out alarm. I believe Winjet covered this relay issue when they designed the headlights.

During the day my low beams are on very dim and the LED's look like they arent even on ( this is how i believe Chevy designed the DRL on these trucks) and during night time i have both LED's and lowbeams firing.

If you are looking for an LED strip for DRL, this may not be the unit to get... Like i say night time they are super bright but during daylight only way i can tell if they are on is if i hold my hand directly in front of the LED.

I can post pictures too if needed.
