I bought my truck with 55,000 miles on it. (65,000 miles now) I don't know what kind of oil the old owner used.  I use Mobil One.  Should I try this stuff or not?

That's what I've been using recently, 5w30 Synthetic Blend.  I would recommend this oil to anyone.  I don't know about the viscosity of the oil you should use but Mobil 1 makes oil for almost all applications!

I would tend to shy away from stuff like that.  Kind of reminds me of the ol' Slick 50 stuff.  If you are using Mobil 1 already, it should be good.  It has detergents that prevent sludging already in the oil.  It also cleans out whatever buildup was already in there.  That is one of the reasons that some of the older, high-mile cars would leak Mobil 1 after using dino for a few years.

I dont use synthetic and still wont use any additives, when it all comes down to it all that stuff like slick 50 is all the same IMO. Most of them dont help your engine, I would imagine some could actually hurt your engine.

Hmmm? Seems like some pretty interesting stuff, but I still dont know about it. I read in one post where someone thinks mobil 1 has enough of that cleaning agent to keep an engine clean instead of using the RX, or something like that. As far as making your engine cleaner I would say yes it will work. I recently used some STP Engine flush in our '91 and it REALLY cleaned out the engine. Before you could look into the oil filler hole and see everything was stained and dirty, after the STP it was clean and shiney. Plus the STP looked and smelled just like Heating Oil or Off Road diesel (Both the same). I am not sure thats what it is but if so I assume it has some other stuff in there too, but YES it works. Maybe it worked because the engine has never had it in 150,000 miles. It sounds like the same case with Auto RX, if your engine is REALLY dirty and in poor condition it will clean it out, other than that I dont think it is a miracle additive. I am not sure on the procedure for using it but if you use a little every time or whatever it will maintain the cleanliness, but changing your oil every 3000 seems like it would maintain the cleanliness also (until a certain period of time like 150K). The only thing I think RX does is add more cleaners to your oil, but who knows!
