Well my truck has a new grandfather or mother.. lol.. I bought a 1955 Pontiac Chieftain. It was owned by the In N Out Burger family/dynasty. It was restored by them years ago, so it could use some freshening up, but I just wanted a fun weekend cruiser.. For $7,600 I figured I couldn't go wrong.. It has brand new tires with 30 miles on them, and get this, the guy didn't even know.. in 55 it came with a FOUR SPEED automatic!! The Hydromatic.. It's funny though because it's not an overdrive, but it's got four gears.. He kept saying it was a three speed, and we went for a test drive and I kept feeling four gears, I kept telilng him something is up here.. I checked 1955 Chieftain on Wikipedia and sure enough, the first four speed from GM/Cadillac..

Cool! My dads uncle restored. one of only a few of the Convetible's with the bigger option motor if I remember correctly. He died but his wife still has it last I heard. I think he had found a Yenko Nova before he died, was going to be his next project. I can't remember the exact year right now.

lol, yeah.. I am 28 years old and my mom remarried and had more kids, so I have a 13 year old sister.. I never thought about it, but these kids have grown up with all this technology so they have no idea when it was created, nor do they have a grasp on life without it.. So I used that joke on her, telling her I couldn't figure out how to use the bluetooth in the car, and she completely believed it. Kinda funny, but I guess when you've grown up with all of this, as far as you know it's been around forever..

On another note, does anyone know a good forum for A old cars or B old Pontiacs/GMs? I have many questions, like what it would cost to go with a modern motor/tranny, etc..

Thanks!

Very cool car!! Nice colors too!

I hate all the '57 Chevy at shows, etc. I think it's cool you bought one of "the other classic" GM's. Def see fewer of these than the shoebox Chevys...
