I hope so too for all the '14 owners. Also Because I may buy one someday, sooner or later.

If you read the pinned oil thread in the 07-13 section, you will see the problem ran up into the '11s-12s. My '09 did not burn much of anything.

Read the tread about oil burn starts around 30-50,000. Said shhhhh...oot and walked out and checked mine. It was at about 50,000 and had 4,500 on my normal 5,000 mile M-1 oil change. Off the stick! Not sure how much it had burned as usually a little over full on an oil change as all oil does not get out. The 07-09s also have the hammered AFM lifter issue.

If I bought a '14 today, I would disable AFM and add a catch can. Maybe I'm gun shy but that is what I would do. Anyway, way off thread topic. Sorry about that.

I'd heard/read it was mainly the aluminum block engines with AFM in the earlier years. Haven't heard of many problems related to that in the later years. My 07 Yukon XL went through a quart every 3000 miles until I disabled AFM. Fine after that.

Ya, after rereading the thread it looks like the late '11s and on had the valve cover and oil pan baffle parts. If/when I get a '14/15 (waiting to see how the oil burn fix on my 09 does and the '14 vib issue to settle some) , I will go with the range and a catch can. The '12s and '13s are getting to mileage so we will see. So far so good for them.

Please guys stop with the, first run, first year stuff. I have worked in the service department at GM, Dodge, and Ford and neither Ford or Dodge have had so many issues with their new first run trucks. Ram, is the most changed truck in the industry from the previous generation, while Ford and GM have carried over parts(Fords cabin has been the same since 2004). Rams suspension could be considered "radical" in terms of the air suspension and multi-link coil-spring rear. As a lifetime GM guy, I have to say GM dropped the ball on these trucks, to have 2 separate recalls (amongst many others) with regards to fire is embarrassing, I have also seen people on this forum trade in their truck for the competitors as well as other forums, and to have GM give someone, like in this situation another truck and have worse problems is inexcusable. I have not seen someone have their truck exchanged for another that happen in my time both at Ford, or Dodge.

Really dude are you serious.... Everything you just said can be said about ford and dodge as well. As for me I will never by another ford product again. I had a ranger, explorer, mountaineer, f-150, and a navigator, all were beyond terrible except the mountaineer. I had a dodge ram 99 that was pretty good but my brother had a ram that was in the category of the ford products I owned. I now have an 04 silverado and a 14 silverado. The 04 has 244k+ on it and runs like a champ with the exception of a small oil leak. My 14 has only had one issue and that was the radio had frozen with multiple screens on it but it reset itself. I also had a 03 Cadillac that was trash. My point being is those bad stories can be said about any of these manufacturers as well as the good ones. Take it for what it is and stop hating on those with the bad issues.

I had a few myself, 99 Ford P/u 1quart of oil every 2500 miles, early 4.6 and 5.4 spark plugs came out. The 6.0 ford diesel where do you start on that one, a real nightmare. Dodge ram 91 diesel front spring fail, 94 transmission lines come apart, the clips come out do to the diesel shake. They lemon law that one for me. I never had a GM strand me on the side of the road. But they all have issues at one time or another, to date my GMs had all ways got me home, cant say that about the other brands.

Seriously, you should read my post, especially the second sentence. I do have more first hand experience with all 3 manufactures then you ever will. Fords and Dodges launches in 2009 were more successful the gms current truck release.

Great to see you're not having the excessive problems most people are in this section, who have also traded in their new trucks for fords and Toyoda's here.

Im guessing you didn't work at ford when they came out with the 4.6 and the 5.4 when they were losing spark plugs due to not enough threads in the heads? They are still trying to live down the 6.0 diesel. How about the recent problems with the turbo V6 in the trucks, power loss on acceleration? Most people are not having troubles, just some.

I was there for those, know it well. I'm trying to compare all 3 manufacturers in a more current time frame. Even with the ecoboosts issues its still a lot less then we are experiencing with our current gm trucks. What I'm trying to say is gm didn't live up to the quality of what this truck should have been.

Who needs quality when it is loaded with gadgets.

I noticed that double cabs are made in Indiana, while crew cabs in Mexico. Are crew cab owners experiencing more problems than double cab owners? I am trying to see if these problems are more design or workmanship related.

I doubt that you have more first hand experience (but it's possible). I worked for ford for years and we build specific parts for the ram, f-150, and silverado all at the same plant in Indianapolis. The rate of return on parts after a new line release was always significantly higher for ram and f-150. And these were the returns after the recalls. Numbers don't lie..... So like I said your statement can be said of any of the automakers. Right now it just happens to be gm's turn in the spotlight.

Right. The service department and a plant are 2 different things. One thing that I haven't seen is owners trading in their trucks for the competition like we have seen on this forum. But, ya maybe its GMs turn like you say.

Yes you are right. THe Mex trucks are better build quality. :) Have you ever been to a modern plant in the industrial areas of Mexico? One will find a few slackers in any plant, north or south of the border.
